I want to do a 1:1 backup of my DVD (a DVD of 50 US dollars...I dont want to mess with it)
and use the copy for watching.
And the DVD is a dual layer DVD, and because at my place a recordable dual layered DVD is very expensive compare to two d5 disc, I want to split to dual layer disc into two single layer disc and than burn it.

On Linux, what is the software I need to complete the task?

Thank you.

As has been posted elsewhere in these forums, DVD Shrink (Use in "Re-author" mode for splitting, etc.) will operate under Linux...

Does any native Linux program exist to do the job?

Does any native Linux program exist to do the job?In addition to k9copy, there is also the command line lxdvdrip and vanred.

lxdvdrip: http://developer.berlios.de/projects/lxdvdrip
vanred: http://sourceforge.net/projects/charemma and http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=89543

As far as I know k9copy is the only native linux program that keeps the DVD menus.

Plenty will requantise down to a size that will fit on a 4.7G DVD, but you lose the menus.
