Encode with WMV9 in RMVB container

I have see someone encoded a 23min video into a 71mb rmvb file and the quality is still good. In the file name he indicated that the file is compressed using wmv9 codec but it's put in a rmvb container. I currently have WinAVI converter, and it can't do that. It can only do RV10, so is there a encoder/converter that can encode video files using the wmv9 codec and put them in a remvb container? Thanks.

WMV9 can't be put in RMVB.

Ok, so I guess that person mis-named the file then. But the compression is really good, usually a rmvb file with that kind of quality will need to be 110-120mb, but he did it with 71mb. I couldn't find anything different about it other then it's tagged as wmv9, so I thought it's because of the different codec.

Oh btw, I'm downloaded the Easy RealMedia Producer, it seems like a nice program, I'm trying it now.

Why Easy RealMedia Producer in all the avalible GUIs?

Well, I can get the size down to the typical 120mb for a 24 min video with Easy RealMedia Producer. Just a question, is there anyway to check what codec is used for a particular video? Thanks.

With RealAnime you can get down to 60MB with the same quality... using x264 and AAC PS.

I just tried RealAnime, I couldn't get it to work. So I guess I'll stick with RV10 for now. I'll try to contact that group that encoded the 71mb rmvb video see if they'll be willing to tell me how they did it, I doubt it tho. Thanks for the help.

If you install RealMedia Properties shell extension, you can right click on RM(VB) files and see which codecs are used. See the RealMedia Utilities sticky for where to find it.
