I am using a WinFast TV USB II Deluxe capture device to capture videogame output at 720x480 to YUY2 in VirtualDubMod.
In order to reduce hard drive usage (at the expense of CPU usage) I am compressing on the fly to HuffYUV (max quality settings).
I am concerned that I might be losing picture data because VDM operates in the RGB32 colorspace, and for all I know it's converting the YUY2 to RGB32 before compressing it back to HuffYUV.
Is that something I should worry about, or does VDM send the capture driver's output directly to the compression codec?
