Hi. I found this strange problem. I say 'strange' because this problem doesn't seem linked to the use of MP3 VBR compression instead of MP3 CBR.

This is the problem:
- I have an AVI which, apparently, is perfect. A/V is in sync but, when I perform in VirtualDub 'File___File information', I see that the video is 1:33:42.20 long, but the audio is 1:33:26.28 (that is, 16' less!).
The result is this: if, for testing, I create a MPEG-1 from that AVI (well, exetly loading the video part from that AVI and loading , as 'audio input', the uncompressed WAV I made from that AVI), the sound is out-or-sync of a constant amount (but 'by ear' I can feel it is some thousands of milliseconds, not 16 seconds).

Is there a way to detect exatly (and not 'by ear') the A/V delay which will be created, so I can correct it by using some audio encoder?

Thanks.

Try to open the original avi with AviMuxGUI. Select, Append video and select audio in bottom window. See at right side the delay.
