Lost Codecs, all of them, tried everything!

I know that this issue has been addressed before but I tried the fixes and nothing works! Here is what

That is it! I don't normally use VFW to encode, but I do use it to decode, so far no problems but I just got on my computer and realized it. It may be from the new version of XVID that I downloaded off of Celtic_Druid's website. Although I don't think so. I uninstalled and reinstalled but that didn't help.

this problem by xvid was only realted to a koepi build. he fixed it and that build is no longer available. c_d's stuff was never prone to this.

And what do you see if you examine the list of installed video codecs via the Control Panel?

Your best bet is to just reinstall them. ffdshow, msvideo, perhaps ms legacy codecs if you have old videos, should get you 90% of the way there. I'd give you the contents of mine, but I'm sure some are different and I don't want to screw yours up further.

It was keopi's build then. I was using it before I used celtic's build. I just noticed now because I was troubleshooting a xvid problem that I had and I wanted something to compare it with. so i opened up virtualdub went to video compression, and BAM! they were gone. Even my audio codecs were gone. I suppose that is okay, as long as everything still works. I can always reinstall the ones that I need. The installer are laying around in the same directory.

Have you, as I previously suggested, checked via the Control Panel, to determine if the codecs have merely been disabled?

how do i check? I just open it up and there is nothing about codecs.

Okay, I checked and the only codecs there are the ones that I have reinstalled. Ill just keep reinstalling the ones that I need and so on. Thanks for your help man.

Should have only effected uninstalling. I would think that Koepi accidentally used uninsdeletekey instead of uninsdeletevalue for XviD's vidc entry. Almost did the same thing for my XviD64 installer (or was it ffdshow?).

If it happened during install, then it would be something else.

Besides the problem would have been after 1.1. From recollection Koepi lost his InnoSetup script and wrote a new one for the 1.2 build before realising that he could have used innounp to get the old one.

Well, I have kind of stopped on this issue. I reinstalled the codecs I need and those are very few. you see, i use ffdshow most of the time for viewing and commandlines in MeGUI for encoding, so it really isn't a big deal anymore.
