Hi.... some older DVDs have low audio levels and they stay that way for the back up. Can I run the audio through, say AC3, filter to boost the level 5 or 10 Db? Or use the equalizer?

If anyone knows it'd be great to hear from you... how do you set it up?

I don't think any 1-click will do that, including DVD-Rebuilder. To tweak the audio you have to re-encode it, which means reauthoring the disc. So you're only option is 'Big 3' for full DVD backup. It will demux the audio and you can manually replace the files. It may even have the option to do something like this automatically.

You can re-encode the audio with BeSweet/BeLight. It takes VOBs as inputs.

For your sake, a bit of additional information - Although BeLight/BeSweet "takes VOBs as inputs", it will not re-encode the audio in place (inside the .VOB). The end result of using it will be a separate .AC3 audio file. Also, you may have to find a way to initially extract the entire movie's .AC3 audiostream as a single file (as opposed to individual .VOBs), so as to avoid timing and or header problems later on.

Finally, after creating this modified .AC3 audio file, you'll still have to replace the DVD's original .AC3 audio stream with your modified one.

I'm sure there are others here who can provide you with step by step directions as to how to accomplish this...
