View Full Version : Black outline on objects in NTSC footage - can I remove somehow?

Hi all,

I'm sorry of something like this has been posted previoulsy, I've not been able to find it, and have spent quite a long time messing about with avisynth scripts already.

As the title says, I have some NTSC footage from a short film some freinds & I are working on. However, the NTSC footage has odd outlines on some objects/people. YOu can see it round the shoulders of the character in white, as well as round the horse's rear.

Is there anyway I can remove this from the footage? Sample image attached. Thanks in advance.

you could have a look at dehalo_alpha for avisynth. but something tells me it wont work all that well. the problem with haloing on video cameras is it occurs on the full dynamic range of what's being filmed. that dude with the axe is overexposed (possibly by quite a lot), and because of that the haloing goes right down to black where on a dimmer object it would have barely been visible, and certainly easier to correct.

but dehalo_alpha should help regardless.

Thanks for the response. I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to avisynth scripts, so have not really been successful in loading the dehalo function.

Can you supply any assistance?
