It uses the gstreamer architecture. Only Theora output ATM, it seems, but it works with plugins and XviD is on the to-do list for the actual release, so...

I have been keeping an eye on this project. They are moving along very fast - and it looks like this will be a winner.
I was surprised to see that they're even aiming for crossplatform: Screenshot (http://files.diva-project.org/screenshots/diva001_1.png)
Thanks for the good news.

Surprising. I mean, MONO is crossplatform but on what other platform than Linux do we have gstreamer? The main page only talks about a GNOME application, so I guess that sentence on the dialogue window is just a blooper.
Edit: OK, OK, so it seems gstreamer has been ported to MacOSX but, more surprisingly, ChristianHJW claimed in another forum that the Matroska people have ported gstreamer to Windows. In 2004. So it seems possible at least.

Great stuff - my only gripe with it would be it using GTK, but then again its free so no complaining ;)
Since they have filters on one of their milestones it would be cool if someone could convince them to somehow smuggle in AviSynth (3.0?) as the filter 'engine'. That would be too awesome.

So now that there was somekind of release, has somebody already tested it?
I would like to know opinions if this is usable with my dv-camcorder?
