VobBlanker changes fps when replacing pgc

hi all,
i'm not really sure what i'm doing wrong, please help.

In the original dvd the video was 4:3 PAL (720x576) MPEG-2 (VBR), and the playback time was 01:38:15.02 (at 25 fps), and there were 18 chapters.

I wanted to rechapter my movie while keeping the original menu structure and bonus materials, so i did the following:

1. I used Shrink's Re-author to rip the movie only
2. Using that as a source i created my new chapters with Chapter Edit, now i had 84 chapters. The resulted video was 4:3 PAL (720x576) MPEG-2 (VBR), playback time: 01:38:22.24 (at 25 fps)
3. I used PgcEdit to remove all the cells from the main movie in the original dvd (except for the first one)
4. I used AddChapter to add 84 new chapters. I used a one-frame cell from the original movie as the custom cell
5. With PgcEdit i deleted the first cell, so now the whole movie had the same vid value

so now I had a complete dvd with one frame repeating 84 times as the main movie's 84 chapters. PgcEdit showed that the video was 4:3 PAL (720x576) MPEG-2 (VBR), playback time: 00:00:42.00 (at 25 fps)

6. I used VobBlanker to replace the main movie's pgc with the rechaptered movie (created in step 2). In the setting menu all boxes were checked under 'Replacing'

And the surprise came: when I checked the results, the video had the same attributes (4:3 PAL (720x576) MPEG-2 (VBR)), but the playback time was 01:38:09.27 (at 30 fps)!!!
So, compared to the orgiginal it is now 6 seconds short, and fps changed to 30 from 25!

Well, that 6 seconds might got lost in the Chapter Edit process, but what makes replacing a 25 fps pgc with another 25 fps pgc result in a 30 fps pgc?

I use VobBlanker for a while now, it is one of the greatest tools of all, but it was the first time i used it for replacing a title, and now i don't know if i should be happy with the results. the computer plays it ok, but won't some player complain about a PAL movie with 30 fps?

Use PgcEdit and correct it.

If the only mention of 30fps is in the PGC time, then player won't worry about it. It actually happens quite often that the playback time is reported at the wrong video rate. I don't think you can correct that in PgcEdit (I don't think you can change the fps value, or the duration values). You can do it in IFOEdit, but the encoding is sooo twisted that it might take you a while to figure out exactly what values to put there to get the right playback time.
Again, this isn't crucial at all, but it's puzzling that vobblanker did that, perhaps a tiny bug?

To change the FPS from 30 to 25 with IfoEdit, you must select the right PGC in VTS_PGCITI, and double-click on the Playback Time line, at offset [00000004]. Substract 128 from the value, and save.

But if the FPS value is wrong in the VOBs, you will probably have some problems!

It is Chapter Edit (a japanese tool) that wrongly writes 30fps to the IFO. And VobBlanker partly (not for all cells ???) copies this wrong information to the destination DVD.

I don't know a way to prohibit this in VobBlankers settings.
Seems another option in VobBlanker is needed.

A bit OT, but I am puzzled why steps 3-6 were necessary. You had a full movie with new chapters. Why didn't you replace the whole movie PGC in VobBlanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm) with the re-chaptered one?

Your original movie need to have the same number of cells as your re-chaptered one, else all the additional cells will be merged to one cell by VobBlanker.

I do not have Chapter Edit, just curious..
Does Chapter Edit adjust the internal Vob pointers? They have to be adjusted, because the pointers should point inside the cell, never out of it.

It does an updating VOBU pointers phase at the end of the process, so I think it is doing the update.

If any video flags changed into VOB's incorrectly, may be a DVD Patcher utility (DVDPatcher_v106 (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/svcdtools/DVDPatcher_v106.zip)) can help you. It can change any flags of video stream both the first header and the all headers of VOB's.
