View Full Version : Thumbnails Do Not Show.

Before I posted this question I tried to find the answer in several places with no luck. Maybe some of you may have had the same problem:

Not all thumbnails show when I go to View (Windows) and select "thumbnails" I have tried customizing the folders and tried restarting after changing from "List" or "icons" or "tiles" etc. Some clips will have thumbnails and others will have the windows logo for audiovisual items. Possibly some of the files have the extension .avi or .MOV or .MPG. Is there a way of changing every video clip so it will have a Thumbnail? (without compromising the quality of the video clip?)

Not all video clips have the ability of thumbnails under Explorer, .MOV is one of them. In any case, a quick search would have found this recent thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=107522&highlight=thumbnail+explorer).

...And double checked my files. They all are .mpg or .avi
The thing is some of them have thumbnails and others don't (in the same folder). The ones that do not have thumbnails are both .avi and .mpg The ones that have thumbnails are also .avi and/or .MPG How Do I check if they are compressed or uncompressed? Size of folder does not seem to matter.
Somebody recommended:
Start > Run > regsvr32 shmedia.dll
but is it necessary when some files have thumbnails and others dont? Somebody else recommended a Haali Splitter which I have no idea how it works...

A quick search allowing for divine knowledge of the search terms and a dose of hindsite. If only you had asked Uber L33t first.
