I got the error "Merge error #3(Mkv Merge)" and "Encoder error #-529697949 (x264)" when trying to encode some vids. Below are the logs of the errors, any idea what's causing the problem?

What's the source (Right click in RA, Info) and the settings? Can you reproduce the problem?

Also, why do you recode a file with a higher bitrate? Source is pretty low quality...

I know the quality is lower, but if the filesize after encoding is still smaller than the original but higher in bitrate, no harm done.

I tried encoding again, I still get the same problem, I didn't resize it this time, any idea what else can be causing it? What about the "Merge error #3(Mkv Merge)" error?

I might have to add this to my sig.

Merge error was because you were trying to mux an avs without encoding it. Pressed the wrong button? Your latest error might be from outputting the wrong colorspace: ie, the only way you could resize to 320x237 in the first place is by outputting rgb, and x264 don't play dat. But without posting the error who knows. Is it the exact same error, or just another error?

Not sure how it can mux an .avs without encoding since there's only 2 buttons, "start" and "stop". Error happens after 2nd pass, so it has to be encoded.

It's 320X237 when I got it, so I didn't resize that. No idea how the output changed to rgb since I didn't change that, I don't know how to do that in realanime anyway(avs did that?), maybe in vdub I know. Trying it again now, will post the full error when I get it, the errors are the same for the same video file.

I can't find anything for error "Encoder error #-529697949 (x264)"?

If it's 320x237 you have to resize or crop it somehow. Preferably mod16 (resize to 320x240). I agree with sirber, it's bizarre to reencode to a newer format at the same bitrate (=same filesize). It's not guaranteed to come out worse, if you're using enough filtering, but it probably will.

I have no clue about why an AVS is getting merged at the end. It never happened to me. Unless you give me a step by step repro case I cannot help you.

Here is the full everything on my settings. Don't think it can be anymore detailed. The file is MPEG-1, maybe that's the cause? For these files, I just downloaded it and encode, I haven't seen it, not even sure what codec these are, just encoding it(I got tons to encode so I don't really look at them). Same bitrate should give same filesize, but doesn't always work that way, I don't know how, but some just comes out smaller/larger.

Seems like other MPEG-1 doesn't work either, that's the cause? The merge error is only one of the many that I got, I will post the rest after this is fixed, one at a time.

EDIT: just checked, realanime supports .mpg files so it can't be the cause. I think.

Looks like RealAnime thinks your source has audio.
Can I have the MPEG for testing?

hmmmm, my source does have audio. How do I send the MPEG, is it ok to send via FTP? The file is very bad quality btw, but it's just one of the many many many things I'm encoding so I don't really look at them.
