Stats file??

pls forgive me for the noobie question but i wanted to convert my videos with virtualdub and i went to compression and picked xvid but then it says i need a stats file??. Im pretty new to virtualdub so do i need to make the stats file with virtualdub or another program like gordian knot??

perhaps you chose multi-pass .
At first , you choose multi-first pass and then run "save avi" or "run analyst pass.."
At seconde ,you choose multi-npass ,and .....

i dont know what i was doing. I thought the stats file is something you make and insert to help encode with virtual dub bt i was waaayyyy off. it actuall just records info when encoding.
