I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, so please move it if there is a better forum choice.
I'm converting some Xvid and DivX encoded videos (all originally widescreen) to play back on my Panasonic DVD player in my entertainment center, but for some reason when I convert them (used WinAVI and ConvertXtoDVD) the player doesn't play them back in widescreen but fullscreen mode. I think this may have something to do with not the conversion, but the encode: as is the case with widescreen encodes the black area above and below the picture is cropped. I checked the conversion by playing it back on my computer's DVD drive and all is well (using PowerDVD), my entertainment center's DVD player seems to be having the issue. This happens no matter what conversion method I use.
Is there a way to trick the player into thinking there was nothing cropped? What can I do?
thanks,
CZ
