Pal -> Ntsc

Hi There !

Last year, I've started using the great "the big 3" DVD backup guide, and the quality is just amazing. It was a good learning curve for me, but what the hell, it was well worth it.

However my friend bought a DVD from Europe and would like me to back it up as a NTSC DVD. I know pulldown used to do that, but I'm not sure where the step of converting from PAL to NTSC would come in the "big 3" guide.

Any help is greatly appreciated ! :thanks:

this wont be easy, by any stretch of the imagination .. but it looks like you enjoy a challenge ;)

numen4u can handle the menu conversions for you, so this simplifies the process greatly.

to handle the main movie/extras, you will need to do a bit of light reading:

a great number of these threads deal with format conversion and how this can be achieved using the "big 3" method with manual intervention (pay particular note to the threads started by rmtaibo.

Hi, I've been working on accomplishing the same sort of thing. I'm using NuMenu4u to convert the menu from PAL to NTSC, then I'm going to use the attached file (Guide) to convert the main movie from PAL to NTSC then I'm hoping that using BatchUpdateIFO will put it all back together for me. Hope this will help you.

Note: The Guide is too large to include as an attachment (< 200Kb). If you PM me I'd be glad to e-mail it to you. The authors web link is http://www.dvdr-core.org/ , but it's presently down due to hackers. It's a real easy straight forward guide utilizing quality utilities, some the same as the Big 3. I highly recommend it.
