ok, I want to know if vdub will take my vbr audio and convert it to cbr while, at the same time doing a direct stream copy for the video. I can't seem to get it to work.oh, and by the way why is 56k the max mp3 encode rate?

VirtualDubMod doesn't modify the audio at all - it only allows you to demux/remux it to the video stream. For bitrate conversions you need to demux it and change it with another software.

Hi!why is 56k the max mp3 encode rate? That's limited by the .MP3 encoder you have installed (It happens to be the maximum of the Microsoft-installed codec)...

im not using vdubmod. i quit using that a while ago. im using the vdub 1.6.14 that can change the bit rate. Now, can someone please answer my question?
Thank you for the response on the mp3 bitrate though:thanks:

If you wish/need "standard" mp3 bitrate (128 and above) then install "ACM LameMP3" (see on www.free-codecs.com ).
Of course you can (using Vdub or VdubMod) direct stream video and reencode VBR to CBR (using above lame codec) -if sound will be in sync, that's another question :-).
