Im chopping and screwing a dual layer down to a single with nero recode. I cutt it down to about a 6.5gig and then let recode compress it to the necessary size. That end result was garbage, the ppl in the movie were digital block ppl (best way i can describe it). I then tried it again with DVDremake 3.4 its a great program, alot easier to use and cut segments out than recode. U can also keep the menus and extras. It still turned out with a few shadows. But not the digital block ppl as before. Any thoughts on how to remove segments and still keep a quality dvd. I hope with a lil more practice with remake, ill have what im looking for.

you do realise that dvdremake does NOT transcode or re-encode the edited disc it creates? there should be no difference in the video between the orginal and the "remade" version beyond the segments you have removed.

the "digital block ppl" are due to the way nero transcodes the video so that it will fit the target size you have specified. if this is unacceptable to you, i suggest that you look into tools such as dvdrebuilder which can utilise encoders (both freeware - hc/quenc or payware - cce) to re-encode the video. you can also employ filters in this process to further edit the video to your tastes.

After i chopped the video with dvdremake. I compressed the output files (approx 6.5 - 6.8gigs) with Shrink. Ive used shrink to compress larger 'orginal' files and i cant see any difference at all. But if use it on the the dvdremake files, thats when i can see the difference. I guess i need more practice and try different buttons.
