View Full Version : QuEnc images when doing SVCD

Hello all, i have been doing AVI2DVDs for quite some time now, and everything goes like a charm.

I just started doing SVCDs and i have ran into a few problems.

My question was: When i load a 700MB AVI (which is about the standar AVI size) and i make an SVCD i notice i get 2 bin/cue images.

I've been using QuEnc and it works great, however, is it possible to fit all the movie into an 80min CDR (700MB) without having to split it into 2 images with this encoder?

If so, how is it done?, and if not, could you recommend other encoders that could do it?

I know you could do that with CCE, but i can't afford to have it.
So i thought i asked to find out if this is possible.

And i notice i get very low audio volume when i make SVCDs,
is there a way to boost the audio so it can be hearable?

Anyway, post anything that could help. :)
Thanks.

How long (in minutes) is the video avi you are converting?

You have to fiddle with the length of 1 CD in the bitrate tab.
If the movie is 90 min set the value to 91mins. in the 1 CD line.
For a 700 mb disc set the CD size to 800.

@jikchung, The movie is about 1hr and 40min
(Roughly over 100min).

@PINOBIRD, so basically if i want to fit the whole movie i have to set the total movie time where it asks for the values (i.e.: 100min)
and choose 800MB for de CD, is that right?

And now, how about the Audio?, how do i boost it so i can hear it?

Is "Autodetect Azid Gain" checked in the audio tab? If not, check it and try that.

Yes, 800mb fits a 700mb CD don't ask me to explain this.
It had something to do with error correction iirc.

@ Nick:

Is "Autodetect Azid Gain" checked in the audio tab? If not, check it and try that.

Yes, it is checked but sound is very poor.
Could there be another way to fix this?

For example, if i demux the avi and run the audio thru BeLight to boost it and then remux it?, which settings should i use for better audio gain under BeLight?

Or can it be done within D2S?

Please post anything that can help... :)

Uncheck "Autodetect" then try again. The default for Azid gain setting is 6.

Try it, stop when video encoding starts and listen to the encoded audio. If it's OK, crash-recover in the Misc tab from the next stage. If it distorts, reduce the figure from 6 in the audio tab. If it's still too quiet, increase it and try again.
