I just started testing AGK for doing som batch conversion for my smartphone (no need to babysit vdub) and pretty quick i ran into a problem: "EXCEPTION: Audio and overhead size is more than target video size!"

Now this would have made sense IF I'd kept the original audio. How ever I've checked use 32Kbps mp3 and 320 pixels fixed width, just as the size is 40Mb. Good standard values for my device. AGK throws an Exeption anyway, using the original file size.

:readfaq: especially FAQ 5.12 (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=458382#post458382)

Extracts:5.12 What are limitations/features of AVI input mode?
...
- input audio can be PCM(always encoded)/MPA(kept/encoded)/MP3(always kept)/AC3(encoded/kept)/DTS(encoded/kept)
...
- mp3 re-encoding is not possible due to LAME crashing on most mp3 sources
=> When using avi input, original mp3 will always be kept (same size) :(

=> Possible backdoor, partly with AGK:
1/ encode your mp3 apart with Besweet/Belight or whatever app
2/ reserve the audio and overhead size
3/ tell AGK to encode video only for Final size - (audio size + overhead size)
4/ Mux video and audio in VirtualDubMod (VDM) in direct stream copy mode; for VDM :readguid: here: (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/virtualdub_procedures.htm)

Exemple final size 40Mb, audio 10Mb, overhead 2mb; Video only size will be 40-(10+2)=28MB

Did you search for another all-in-one xvid/divx encoder possibly more suited for smartphone?

Or, just load your original .AVI into VirtualDub, set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy", change the audio settings to whatever you prefer and save with a new filename. In perhaps 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, you'll have your revised .AVI, still in synch, with no need to demux and remux - ready to use in AGK...
