Last year, I received a DVD-R which contained footage shot by the guy who made the DVD-R (so that you understand this is strictly noncommercial). I was unable to rip it, so in exasperation, I went to my friend with a stand alone burner to make copies, which I unfortunately lost, together with the original. I So I finally got a new copy from the same guy and I can't rip this copy either.
When I try to open it in DVDshrink, a pop up window says:
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Failed to read file "F:\"
F is where my Plextor 716 is.
Any help:
The DVD+R is a TDK 4x
The disc's name (per windows explorer) is LG_RC590M which I assume is the drive he uses.
The first subdirectory is VIDEO_RM:
it contains
VIDEO_RM.BUP
VIDEO_RM.DAT
VIDEO_RM.IFO
The other subdirector is VIDEO_TS:
it contains
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_01_5.VOB
It plays just fine on my stand alone Samsung with my TV. When you load it, it has a menu, with one title, you click on the title and it plays. It did not play on my computer in the one attempt I made.
My computer is a Compaq Presario, Windows XP Service Pack 2, my DVD burner is a Plextor 716.
With the prior copy, I was unable to rip it, but could copy the files from the original DVD and play those files on my computer.
