Received the following:

ERROR 0006: DVD-RB has found framecount differences between the PREPARE and REBUILD phases. Aborting.

Source information:

Howl's Moving Castle 2-DISC R1, DISC 1.
Ripped via DVD Decrypter v3.5.4.0 (Mode, ISO, Read), with all Remove options enabled under "ISO Read Mode" settings (e.g., Remove IFO Structure Protection, etc.). ISO image file was mounted via Alcohol 120% v1.9.2b1705.
No preprocessing was performed.
Using CCE SP Trial v2.70.02.01

Other notes of interest:

DVD-RB dumped this error during rebuilding of V07.
During ripping, DVD Decrypter had inserted dummy sectors in VTS_07_1.VOB.
V07 is also multiangle.

Files:

DVD Decrypter log (http://www.chicagophoto.net/JeffStuff/DVDDecrypter.log)
DVD Rebuilder Project file (http://www.chicagophoto.net/JeffStuff/HOWLS_MOVING_CASTLE_D1.RBD)
DVD Rebuilder log (http://www.chicagophoto.net/JeffStuff/rebuilder.log)

I don't know if this disc is going to be troublesome based on these attributes. Should I maybe try ripping it differently? I've never had problems with ARCCos / structure protected discs before.

Thanks...

That error is an indicator of a bad or corrupted rip. The protection mechanisms used are very probably beyond DVD Decrypter. Use DVD Fab or AnyDVD and it will very probably go away.

jdobbs, I will try an alternate rip and report back.

Another question -- this error halted my batch run. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? I would have been fine with it just writing the error to the log and moving on.

Thanks...

I'll look at it...

Ok, ripped with DVDFab Decrypter v2.9.7.2 and that fixed it. Guess I'll have to think twice in the future when I see DVD Decrypter report "Possible Structure Protection Found!" on a read.

Do any of these new school rippers rip to ISOs?

Actually, DVD Decrypter is still functional with a DVD such as "Howl's" - that has "RipGuard" copy protection. After ripping with DVD Decrypter in "File mode" (Select ALL files, NOT just "movie" files) and seeing the notification that it has replaced the "suspect" sectors, load the rip into VOBBlanker and set a new output directory. Set VOBBLanker to "Process all files" and click on the "Process" radiobutton. You'll now have a "clean" rip to work with...

I've found AnyDVD to be the best solution -- it costs money ($39), but is updated continually. I keep it running all the time and rip with DVD Decrypter to an ISO over the top of it.... Decrypter just sees the disc as not having any encryption -- and AnyDVD does all the work.

A small sidenote - This DVD appears to be structured in a similar manner to that of "Polar Express", in that, if you select Japanese audio, (some) of the opening credits and (all) of the closing credits will appear in Japanese.
