I had always been under the impression that it wasn't possible to get subtitles into MPEG4 files but I have seen a few things on this forum which suggests otherwise. As an absolute beginner in this are of subtitles I would apprecieate it if someone can point me in the correct dirrection to get an overview of the process involved.

Can I assume that same subtitles procedures will work with for all flavors of MPEG4 like DIVX & Microsoft etc?

For DivX files, visit www.divxlabs.com for divx video and xsub subtitles in .divx container!

You can run many different subtitles types while watching your MPEG-4 video stream.

Many software and hardware players allow for the option of playing subtitles: -

As an "internal" file (ie: the stream is muxed within the container) along with your audio stream.

As an "external" file (ie: the stream is not muxed within the container)
