strange errors

ok here's the story. i've downloaded some unlicensed anime mkv files.

because everybody in the house is using this pc and it is pretty crappy, i always convert it into mpg and burn it onto vcd, so i can watch it from my couch on my widescreen tv.
what i do is this:

demux video
demux audio (only the stream i want)
demux subs (softsubs)

then i load it back into vdubmod and frameserve the right audiostream (japanese), the video and the subs into tmpg encoder et viola, done.

this time there's a problem. i've already asked the anime groups advise, and i've already got the right codec pack (CCCP). if they load it into vdubmod everything is fine but with me it gives an error:
episode 44: matroske stream one doesn't have a sample rate

mkvmerge says: unknown error; identify verbose

episode 45 vdubmod: birtual block not handled

mkvmerge: same as ep 44

what's wrong why does it work with the aniime group guy, but not on my pc. i've already tried it on another pc with the same result. all i need is to get the subs out. i can get the video and audio through tmpg.
