Hello
I'm using dvdrebuilder + CCE 2.70.
Is there suggest key setting for VBR_bias and Quality_prec, when encoding DVD , according to the length of the movie?
I notice in the help file the suggestion:
Movies < 2hr:
Quality_Prec = 15
VBR_Bias = 20
Movies between 2h - 2h10m:
Quality_Prec = 15
VBR_Bias = 19
Is it OK?
Thanks

As it is written on the top of that "help" section... those are suggestions from other users... test them... if it fits you, good... if you don't like the results try the default values :)
I forgot to ask 'fr4nz' (and that's my fault) about the version of CCE he was refering to... CCE scales have changed through de different versions, so, if those values were meant to CCE 2.66.x/2.67.x they will be different for 2.70 :(

In the CCE 2.70 guide (from the guide section), there's a recommendation to edjust the : Quantizer characteristics to a value in the range of 27 - 30.
and the recommended deafualt in dvdbuilder for Quality_prec is 16.
So what should I choose as deafult setting?
Thanks :confused:

beginner settings? just very change them
advanced settings, still never change them
super duper uber user..well then maybe consider it, but it wont make that much difference anyway

In dvdrebuilder the QP scale is 0-64, and in CCE 2.70 is 0-100.
So DVD-RB QP 16 is about CCE 2.70 QP 25, and it close to the CEE 2.70 guide QP suggestion of 27-30.
So I guess that QP of 18 (in DVD-RB) ,will be good enough (equal to 28 in scale of 0-100).

That's one of those things that I've been complaining about concerning CCE. Cinemacraft had a scale of 0-100 in CCE SP v2.50... but then changed it after that version to 0-64 and it stayed that way all the way up to v2.67. So I wrote DVD-RB using a scale of 0-64. Then when CCE Basic came out, they had its scale set to 0-100... and I wrote code to make the adjustment... and then when CCE SP v2.70 was released -- it went to 0-100 as well. Now I have DVD-RB using a scale that none of the current releases support.
Well, at least now I'm prepared for when they change it back to 0-64 again.

Don't worry about hat... they'll think of something :D

I dont know anything at all about coding, but it would seem to me that DVD-RB could detect (or maybe even ask) what version of CCE the user was using and set the scale based upon that?

But of course... that's what it does already (when you select the Mode and on the CCE Settings) :)
