Dear friends,
A friend of mine still uses DOS and the word processing software Professional Writer. Unfortunatelly he deleted some files by mistake and now he needs the diskette with the software.
Do you think it can be found somewhere?
Thanks in advance

He might be able to recover the files he wrote by using a hex editor. There must be "ASCII-type" code in them that can be copied and pasted to Word or some other word processing software.

A disk editor can easily recover deleted DOS files, if they haven't been written over. Such free DOS software is easy to find.
Any Windows undelete software should also be able to handle the DOS files, if he has a Windows computer that can read his disk.

Just have your friend use his original disks to recopy the lost files. If he doesn't have them, then he is NOT entitled to use the program!

Yes, because a company that hasn't sold a copy in 15 years and probably doesn't exist anymore is going to care about someone replacing accidentally deleted libraries. :p Take pity on him, it's a poor soul who still uses DOS. I don't know why anyone would want to pirate a dos word processor.
I don't know what doom9's stance on abandonware is, but one of those sites might have it, though they mostly concentrate on old games.

I'm sure the Professional Write copyright owners don't give a hoot how someone gets a copy of this old software. I was going to mention the abandonware websites, but I decided not to, though.
With a search engine, you can find a number of old DOS word processors and shareware text editors.
Isn't it stupid that software has legal copyright protection more than a century after the last working disk disintegrates, and a century and a half after the last copy is sold?
