Long ago i don't see delay in audio filename, and in lastest my encoding i see Delay -32ms. I preform delay in BeHappy/BeLight and i get bigger desynth with delay than without it. I am playing with this and i get right value about 120ms. In DVD Decrypter Stream information.txt says that audio has -112ms delay. I aslo get information when i open vobs into DGIndex gop is not closed, Using 1.46 and lastest 1.47b4. Help, Thanks

I need a VOB fragment to assess these problems. But if you have a value that works, just use that and be happy.

The GOP warning is harmless. It happens because the stream has been edited improperly.

But if you have a value that works, just use that and be happy.Beacouse i have litle problem when i commpress that ac3 to 6ch aac file i must input right delay value for else all channels in aac files is desynched. For now i soloved problem but i scare if this problem again accrue in next encoding.
BTW which tool to use to split vob segment and post

Why is that a problem?
Beacouse the limit of uploaders is 40mb. When i remove second and third audio stream size is vill be about 30mb.

Beacouse the limit of uploaders is 40mb. When i remove second and third audio stream size is vill be about 30mb. Please just use ChopperXP to make a 40MByte VOB fragment.

If you prefer you can upload to my FTP site, which is not limited. PM me for the password if you want to go that route.

@neuron
Have you nail down this problem?
I'm asking you this 'cause I just remembered that I have a mpeg file with a similar problem.

I'm talking about a TV analogic capture to MPEG. I slpitted the file in two (private testing :)) and the second half gets a bad delay from DGIndex (the real delay is "-120" and DGIndex gives me "-40" - the first half of the file is in fact "-40" :)) and I also get the "GOP Warning".

The problem may be the software used on the cut (don't ask me what it was... I don't remember - I have these two clips hanging around my PC for ages :) - but I think it was MpgTX)... the fact is that MediaInfo gives me the correct delay.

If you want I can cut a little chunk of it and sent it to you.

Thanks

Neuron2 there is new problem at same question, I use DGIndex 1.4.7b5 and i get file TheDukesOfHazzard T01 3_2ch 384Kbps DELAY 0ms.ac3 but in DVD Decrypter stream information says

0x80 - Audio - AC3 / 6ch / 48kHz / DRC / English / LBA: 3655 / PTS: 00:00:00.053 / Delay: -80ms
0xE0 - Video - MPEG-2 / 720x576 (PAL) / 16:9 / Letterboxed / LBA: 3649 / PTS: 00:00:00.133 / Delay: 0ms

Audio is desynched, but -80ms is correct delay value

I have exactly this same problem

I tried encoding a 24 episode
DVD decrypter gives me this which is correct I think

0x80 - Audio - AC3 / 2ch / 48kHz / DRC / English / LBA: 6 / PTS: 00:00:00.053 / Delay: -80ms
0xE0 - Video - MPEG-2 / 720x576 (PAL) / 16:9 / Letterboxed / LBA: 1 / PTS: 00:00:00.133 / Delay: 0ms

But dgindex gives me an audio delay of zero, which is not correct. Or at least I think it's not. The video is PAL, so 80ms is exactly 2 frames out of sync.

Oh, and im using the latest dgindex.

Edit, i tested dvd2avi, and it gave me the correct audio offset.

It's about how to interpret the MPEG spec (what frame the PTS value refers to in an open GOP). I interpret it literally and I believe correctly. Which value gives you a synced output? If it is -80, please provide the VOB fragment.

I actually think 120ms is the correct value even though dvd decrypter says 80ms. It's not just the vob i've been having problems with, but loads.

Can i just pm you an ftp account so u can leech the vob ?

Yes, but don't cut the beginning because it changes everything.

I actually think 120ms is the correct value even though dvd decrypter says 80ms. So you're admitting that the source is encoded with wrong delay because neither 80 nor 0 is correct.

All I can tell you is that the MPEG2 syntax indicates 0ms delay, and if it is a DVD it's extremely rare for it not to be 0ms if cut from the beginning.

There's no way for DGIndex to determine the "real" delay; it can only report what the MPEG2 syntax is claiming.

well i said i thought it was 120ms. I only synced it by eye. 80ms is definitely a lot closer than 0 though.

There must be some way of getting the delay, the vob plays in sync :p

Alright, I think i found out what is causing it to go crazy. It's been doing it on loads of my files, and each time i've given it an offset of 120ms which has somewhat baffled me.

With this 24 vob i ripped off dvd. Season 1 ep 1 ..

According to virtualdubmod the mpeg2 video has 61458 frames
And my encoded version has 61461 frames. So my encoded version has 3 more frames than the mpeg2 version. How the hell did this happen ? That would also explain the 120ms offset needed. As each frame is 40ms of audio. 40*3 = 120.

Judging by the picture, they are 5 frames out of sync (i used a scene change to check)! So i am confused. Confused as to why the pictures are 5 frames out of sync and why the sound is 3 frames outa sync.

Also virtualdub says the same as dvd decrypter and dvd2avi, the delay is -80ms.

Just to make it clear
For example
frame 50978 from the vob = 50983 in my encoded avi.

My avs script is ..

LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\DGDecode.dll")
DGDecode_MPEG2Source("C:\24_DISC1\VIDEO_TS\k.d2v")
FieldDeinterlace(full=false,threshold=10,blend=true,show=false)

That's it, then i encoded in tmpgenc.

This any help to try and work out what is wrong ?
