Well, my first post got a lot of looks, but no responses. Could someone point me to articles on fixing SVCDs that have the Video lag the Audio? I'm using DVD2SVCD. I have converted audio and video files - tried to find an article to help me use bbMPEG manually. Didn't find the bbMPEG web page very helpful. So, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi linuxking,

You are right, bbMPEG does have a very cryptic interface. I would probably try to mux the elementary streams with mplex instead. Mplex does have a profile for SVCD (-f 4), and you can enter a value for audio delay in the command line.

If you happen to have Cuttermaran installed on your machine, the whole procedure is much easier. After entering the source files you can change the audio delay directly by right clicking on the audio file, and you can see (or hear) the changes immediately when you play the clip. And Cuttermaran will optionally mux the streams after cutting.

Hope this helps.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I will add those two programs to my video processing tools.

I did, in the meantime, find a solution for me. I was going into bbMPEG and everytime I clicked on the Open VS button to add the video stream - the program crashed (just vanished from the screen). I found a patch called bbMPEG_XP.zip that fixed that - replaces the DLL with a 'better' one. I found adding .8 sec (800 msec) delay for video fixed my problem. Then looking in the DVD2SVCD_log.txt file, I copied and ran the line to build my .bin and .cue files.

I'm still not sure why this happend. I've made other SVCDs since with no problem.
