Hi!
Seems like I have found yet another good AC3 encoder
http://www.mediatwins.com/en/products/ac3tools_pro/ (Commercial - 50 EURO)
Does You buy it if they add STDIN support? (Means - no more 6 temporaly WAV files requred - direct integration into Foobar2000/BeHappy/MeGUI )

In my opinion this application has all main features HeadAC3 offers:
decoding AC3
encoding from a 6channelWAV
downmix in DPLI/II
so its value questionable,
but if they would add some features like EX with 8 single channel input they will definitivly make the race. There are some AC3 encoder around since years - really new things meanwhile none of them offers :(

It'd be interesting to know which "library" of AC3 encoding the program supports. My understanding is that SoftEncode and the various ac3encode.dll-based programs in use are based on version 1 of something called the "Dolby library" whereas newer encoders such as Surcode and Sony AC3 encoders are based on a second, improved version. I can't find any authoritative reference to this on the Dolby site. Anyone know?

this is not a Dolby product and the authors have admitted that may not work on some players. It is reversed engineered like BeSweet, etc. So you pay lots for it or pay nothing for Besweet.

Sorry Dimzon but this encoder is worst than ac3enc, ffmpeg, ...
Like these don't have DRC, DialNorm control, MixLevels control, ...
and output limited to 50% but clipping the signal like you can see in this image (http://www.mytempdir.com/507608)

What I don't understand is why all freeware AC3 encoders are considered subpar, how come there never was a LAME/Vorbis-like project focused on AC3?
