need to create a few samples from some avi's i have

but virtual dub says it's missing the decoder.

they are xvid avi's and the playback is perfect.

any ideas? I just need to cut a few bits out.

Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"...

You should have the same (required) codec already installed on your system, since you used it to create your original XviD-compressed .AVIs...

I created these on my college system a year ago.

gspot says I dont have xvid installed, I have ffdshow.

Can someone link me to an xvid install that *shouldnt* cause any playback problems?

go to ffdshow video decoder configuration, and look for codecs on your right, change all to libavcodec
