And any generic decoder of mpeg 4 part 2 can decode all the mpeg 4 part 2 encoded videos
Any generic decoder of mpeg 4 part 10 can decode all the mpeg 4 part 10 encoded videos
Am i right?
And actually why is H.264?
With Mpeg 4 ASP we have DivX/XviD.....
And with Mpeg 4 AVC, we only have one codec (or can i say implementation of Mpeg 4 part 10) ? And that is H.264?

DivX, XviD LMP4, Nero Digital, all are MPEG-4 ASP, they might be different, but to the decoder they are the same, they are all bitstream compatible
It is that simple, every different encoder have their own way of encoding,, and all of them must obey the decoder specs so that the deocder can understand and decode the video

No, H.264 and MPEG-4 Part 10 (AVC) refer technically to the same thing, but different formal standards. H.264 is an ITU-T standard and MPEG-4 Part 10 is an ISO/IEC standard. See the Wikipedia article on H.264 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264) for a longer explanation.
Nero Digital and Ateme AVC, Elecard AVC, x264, libavcodec, CoreAVC, ... are MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 "codecs" (encoders and/or decoders).

There is a sticky in this forum with more than 60 implementations of the Mpeg4AVC/H.264/Mpeg4 part10 (all the same) implementations.

Don't forget about differences in what decoders support, DivX only used to support 1 warp GMC, and XviD encodes using 3 warps

moved to the codecs forum as this is more fitting overall codec questions i think
for general information on mpeg-4 asp/part2 and mpeg-4 avc/h.264 and their implementations check my sticky threads
