View Full Version : synch problems after decrypting

What causes the sound to unsynch with the video? I've had this problem acouple of times when using DVD Decrypter (and it's not just DVD De rypter that does it, Smartripper too) when decrypting from a DVD. It also happens using DGIndex when coverting from a VOB on my HDD. The sound is perfect on the DVD when played.
The video in question is 1:55:49:00 long and the audio is always ripped at 1:55:50:02. The video is not protected as it's one of mine I decided to archive a while ago.
What programs out there can i add a delay to an audio file (doesn't matter AC3 or WAV). Or isn't this the problem? The audio is synchronised with video at begining of video but by the end it's out (prob by a second, but seems more).
I'm sure people have queried this before, but I had a quick look and couldn't see any. If there is just direct me in the general direction and I'll see if it helps.

I was searching gor a solution and came upon your thread.
I have exactly the same problem. I was backing up a dvd movie. I use DVD Decrypter followed by autoGK into xvid. In fact I ripped two movies, and let autoGK transcode overnight. One movie is ok, but this second one is out of syn. Re-do it the second time, same problem.
Not trying to steal your thread, but we have the same problem.

My DVD is one I archived from video I shot. I converted it to mpg and authored. There is, therefore, no copy protection.
The video is not protected as it's one of mine I decided to archive a while ago.
Cheers for the link, though I don't tend to back up my purchased DVDs.
Still I tried to use VOBblanker (have just found FixVTS and using iit now) but I have no VIDEO_TS.IFO. The check last cell doesn't work because there's only one cell and one chapter.
FixVTS didn't fit the problem either? Any Ideas?

I was responding to this part of your post:I've had this problem acouple of times when using DVD Decrypter (and it's not just DVD De rypter that does it, Smartripper too) when decrypting from a DVD. To get your files (presumably .AVI) in synch, try the following:
Load the file into VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod, or NanDub.
Set BOTH "Video"(VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod and NanDub) and "Audio"
(VirtualDub and NanDub - VirtualDubMOD>"Streams>"Stream list") to "Direct Stream Copy".
A) If the difference between audio and video is constant throughout the
video:
From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Interleaving" (For
VirtualDubMOD, rightclick on the listed audiostream and then select
"Interleaving")
Under "Audio skew correction", set an appropriate number of
milliseconds (positive or negative) in the box labelled "Delay audio track
by"
Save with a new filename
B) If the difference increases as the movie plays:
From under the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Framerate" - and
select "Change so video and audio durations match"
Save with a new filename
Let us know of your success ;>}

No, I'm trying to demux them to M2V to reautor the DVD with some other footage. I want a portion of whats on the DVD so I need to split/cut it, therefor need the audio to match.
I just tried to convert my VOB using VOB2MPG then use TMPGEnc to convert it to M2V. But that yielded the same result, out of synch audio. I then tried to convert the large mpg into another mpg trying to cut out the bit I didn't want using TMPGEnc MPEG Editor and yet again the same result. The Large Mpeg i ripped using VOB2MPG is fine!
Just adding on a development here. I found if I import using DVDD the VOB then run it through FixVTS then use VOB2MPEG then split it int a m2v and ac3 using TMPGenc MPEGEditor it seems to work. The audio is aligned, well it seems like a microsecond out, but it's good enough. Actually, the reverse of before happend the end is in synch and the beginning isn't. It's driving me mad.

Thanks for the link. I ran Vobblanker and audio is now in sync.
