View Full Version : Video comes out stretched, why?

Source is a standard-definition TV recording in 16:9 but the show is only in 4:3 so theres black bars on the left/right that I want to crop out. I'm using the multithreaded XviD 1.2, and have attached a screenshot of the Resolution tab in GK. When I use the Preview button, the video looks fine but the resulting file always comes out stretched, with a resolution of about 683x384. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it? Thanks.

Hi-

Open the finished AVI in VDubMod. Does it look normal? Go File->File Information. Is the resolution 512x384? If the answer to both questions is yes, then either you set it for 16:9 in XviD, or you have your player set to output 16:9, where for both you just want 1:1 (i. e., no resizing).

Thanks. I realised it was Media Player Classic that was causing the problem. Strange, because I hadn't changed any settings and I'm pretty sure other files played alright. Anyway, I deleted all of MPC's settings and it's working fine now.
