as i am cutting a small clip from a movie source in avi format with Divx4 encoding. i noticed that the picture color changed quite a little bit.
Original shot:

after cut using direct stream copy:

P.S. i opened both clips at the same time using Media Player Classic, and save the frame in default .bmp format without cpmpress.

**note: it might be difficuly to see the difference from the web as i have just noticed after post them. but if u save them off, and use a picture viewer program to switch back and forth, u will see the difference. this is more noticable when i play them as movies in the player.

"Direct stream copy" should be lossless as there's no re-rendering done - there may be some post-processing occuring due to a different codec rendering the two files.

Were you running two instances of players concurrently to grab these pics? If so, this is the cause for the "apparent" difference.
To get an accurate comparison, use one player for screengrabs of each clip, one at a time...
