I have a tv wonder pro and i've decided to pretty much give up on the MMC software from ati. I use Dscaler for watching tv, and i VirtualDub works fine for capturing avi.

But is there some good capture software (preferably free) that will utilize the hardware mpeg 2 encoder?

On the other hand, if someone knows a solution to the MMC problems i've been having that would be good too. With MMC, the picture randomly freezes while watching and/or recording. I googled it and thought it might be a hardware issue becuase it seemed specific to this card, but with Dscaler and VirtualDub i don't get any freezes. Anyone know what's up?

Thanks in Advance :),

Don't know what is happing to you but a may be a bad board.

I have 5 ATI AIW including your model and I capture 576x720 25 fps, CBR 20,000 bps never drop frame or pause.

That's news to me, I wonder why it encodes so fast and doesn't drop a frame at 20,000 bps CBR? It uses the Ligos encoder.

It uses the Ligos encoder.Which is a software encoder.

The TV Wonder Elite is a hardware encoding card (via Theater 550PRO IC), but the TV Wonder Pro is strictly software encoding.

I see, thanks for the info. In that case does someone know of any capture software (besides ati mmc) that will capture directly to mpeg-2 (and/or mpeg-1)?

And on a kinda related note, is there a lossless audio codec that I can use in virtualdub for capturing?
