I hope nobody minds me posting this here. It relates to burned DVDs, not commercial DVDs that need to be decrypted. I have two disks acquired from separate friends and have found both impossible to copy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Disk one: I put it in my PC DVD drive and Windows can't see it. It says there is no disk in the drive. Shrink and Decrypter can't see it. TmpgEnc Mpeg editor can't see it, even in the Source Wizard/Import Source from DVD Video. Nothing can see it except the Cyberlink PowerDVD software DVD player, which can play it just fine.
My external standalone players can play it but it constantly changes resolution horizontally. The guy that burned the disk for me reports:
"I used a sensory science standalone recorder, which I got at a soundtrack (now ultimate electronics ), store.....it was finalized, and tested on an apex also, and played......I have had some weird experiences,,,,,mostly on discs not finalizing to dvd video, but to dvd+, and staying that way......and not being able to re-finalize......I still don't know how it does it, since finalizing is supposed to make it dvd video.....strange.........."
(He forgot to add, 'Period.')
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Disk two: Windows sees the VIDEO_TS directory, and I can drag and drop copy the files to my hard drive, but whether from the disk or the hard drive, Shrink and Decrypter both report an invalid DVD navigation structure. The files won't demux with DVD Lab Pro, which reports:
Not a 11172-2 or 13818-2 Video Stream.
VobEdit spends several minutes going through the motions of a complete demux, but at the end all I have is a 7k subtitle stream, and this disk has no subtitles.
But again, the software DVD player and my external standalone players will play it. The friend that sent this disk to me reports:
'Hmmm.....that's odd. Well, normally I use deck to deck.... however, I think I used the 'dub' on my machine. Which goes from my VHS right to the dvd on the deck. So I only need one deck.'
The disk ID is: SONATA_VOLUME
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Each friend swears the disk they sent is finalized. Both disks are +R media. Now, I want both of these shows, but even more, I want a solution to the challenges they pose. I could deck-to-deck copy them but I won't. I want to crack them, to get them digitally copied and copyable.
Any suggestions?
