Hello !

I have an avi video file encoded in xvid @ 23.976 fps .
I would like to read it on my DVD player so I have to convert the file to make it DVD compliant.

I first tried to convert it to 25 fps but the movie was jerked (playing, stopping, playing, stopping...). So I reencoded the file and left it to NTSC. But at the end of the process, NeroVision changed the framerate to 29.97fps and it also made the picture jerky.

Do you know how I can convert with NeroVision Express 3 the NTSC xvid file into a PAL DVD video without having a jerky picture ?

How come that NeroV changed the NTSC framerate while transcoding ? I didn't see any options to choose the framerate.

Thanks in advance!

:thanks:

Hi!

Why did you create your XviD-compressed .AVI in NTSC format if you know you require PAL format?

What software and procedures did you use to create your original XviD-compressed .AVI?

Hello ! Thx for your answer!
I didn't say I encoded the files: I downloaded short films from the personal website of the author who was sharing them for free and I'm trying to make a DVD of these.

So I have these 3 xvid avi files @ 23.976 fps that won't play properly when encoded in PAL or NTSC @ 29.97.

Please see my 3 questions above ;)

This problem doesn't look like difficult for professional video encoder like you!

I'm sure you know the answer !

Come on guys !!!! :)

Take a look at the DVD2SVCD program/forum. Unlike the name suggests it can take AVI input and output DVD too.

It might be a little more complex though, I'm not sure how much they streamlined it since I last checked it out. Take a look at this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=45504) for a DVD output plugin that uses the free IFOedit instead of Scenarist.

I also toyed around a bit myself with Ulead VisualStudio and noticed it had an easy DVD creator wizard that allowed you to add any type of video. Didn't really see the final output, but that could be an easier option if you want to pay for it. But it might not work any better than Nero.

Thanks for the infos ! But this is for advance users compared to my knowledge in video encoding. I'll give it a shot if I really don't find a solution with NeroVision Express!

I just don't get why it changes the framerate or make a bad NTSC to PAL conversion.

These links may give you some info. on how to convert the file into something playable.
It deals with SVCD's but it is the same principle, I believe.

Read this one first.

This link below shows how to inverse telecine your video to restore the original ~24 fps.

I know it doesn't indicate anything about the use of Nero...but, since Nero is such a buggy application anyway:D you may be better off using a different program altogether.
Just my opinion, of course:)

P.S. Here is another informative link.

In fact I shouldn't have to restore anything: Nero should just keep the original framerate!

Thanks again for the links (I hope it won't be for too advanced users)
