View Full Version : QUERY: is ProjectX better than VideoRedo & MPEG Wizard DVD together?

I just started using ProjectX 0.90 and quite like it. However I need to know what ProjectX does on "default" settings when demuxing... regarding GOP/PTS errors.

----PreSettings window----

Special tab, Specials 2 pane:

(unchecked) Audio: use only first PTS for sync
(unchecked) Audio: limit points of PTS for sync
(unchecked) Video: ignore errors after 1st PTS/GOP
(unchecked) Video: adapt sliding PTSs

Video tab, Video corrections (demultiplex) pane:

(unchecked) insert sequenzendcode on format changes
(unchecked) ensure each GOP has a sequenceheader

------------------------------

I notice by default these PTS/GOP related settings are unchecked. Is this good, for the best? Will it improve my GOP/PTS fixing-resizing if I enable them?

Basically I do DVB-mpeg2-recordings. But as you know broadcast transmissions will contain errors. I used to use VideoReDo quickstream fix & MPEG Wizard DVD full GOP/PTS fix-resize before DivX encoding. Otherwise if I don't do a full GOP/PTS fix-resize then the DivX encoded file audio is out-of-sync. So my query is, does ProjectX do a full GOP/PTS fix-resize? Or do I need to enable these options?

I just recently read the rules and it did state not to ask "which is better" questions.

Hmm, this is a discussion forum and it's good to express favourates and opinions.

But I guess the best way to find out is to try them all.

Sometimes you need a flat head screwdriver, sometimes you need a philips. Still, you need both in your toolkit.
