Thanks for make this thread.
At first, sorry to be tuny, please help me about ver.No.
I tested for comparision between not-beta ver.(2.5 and 2.02). I downloaded both when each released.
Then I find 2.002 after 2.02 released.
Is this 2.002? or if 2.02beta?
2.02 in here (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showpost.php?p=283987&postcount=56)(dated Aug 4, 2005)
TitleWriter 2.02

2.002? or 2.02beta? in here (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showpost.php?p=300784&postcount=86)(dated 28 Sep 2005)
PS Either way TW 2.001Beta was a beta you should get the current ver. 2.002
Did I misunderstand?
By the way, I found the reference between 2.5 and 2.02 (for example about "Start Play With Movie"), but I will post details after trying newer ver(2.51beta) and about it.

2.02 Stable.
2.5 Last Stable.
as to the 2.2 ver 2.002 I sometimes stutter
TW(dated 28 Sep 2005) is seemed to be v2.2beta, because it's released after v2.02(dated Aug 4, 2005).
Thanks.
Edit:
Sorry. I cancel above mention, because I downloaded v2.05beta on Oct 18, 2005.

Report_1
Sorry I've just ended 2.51beta, so about comparison v2.02, v2.5, and 2.51beta.
Here is except for about Number of Title Play Maps(VMG_PTT_SRPT) and Number of Video Title Sets(VMG_VTS_ART) before-mentioned.
(1)Output from V2.02 can't be read(imported) by DvdReMakePro. After processing by PgcEdit(only open and save), the problem is resolved. V2.5 and v2.51beta don't have the same problem.
Log of DvdReMakePro is,
--------------------------------------------------------
importing DVD...
Read DVD from: C:\DVD_Test\test_titlewriter_2\VIDEO_TS
Read VMG
Read VTS1
Read VTS2
vtsm_vobs == 0 || (vtsm_vobs > vtsi_last_sector && vtsm_vobs < vts_last_sector) (785:VTS.cpp)
can't load VTS 2
Attempt import from VIDEO_TS subdirectory...
Read DVD from: C:\DVD_Test\test_titlewriter_2\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS
Path to DVD does not exist. (133:DVD.cpp)
--------------------------------------------------------
I can't know why and what PgcEdit change.
Folowing report of v2.02 is about one after processing by PgcEdit.
(2)Descryption(VMGM) of streams is strange, a part of VMG Overview is,
*original
VTS_1 Audio 1: English (Dolby AC-3) 6ch 48Kbps DRC
VTS_1 Audio 2: Japanese (Dolby AC-3) 6ch 48Kbps DRC
VTS_1 SubPicture 1: Japanese (2-bit rle )
VTS_1 SubPicture 2: English (2-bit rle )
*output of v2.5 and v2.51beta
VTS_1 Audio 1: English (Dolby AC-3) 6ch 48Kbps DRC
VTS_1 Audio 2: English (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC
VTS_1 Audio 3: English (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC
VTS_1 Audio 4: English (DTS ) 5ch 48Kbps DRC
**Audio changes 2=>4, SubPicture changes 2=>0.
**VMG_VTS_ATRT is same.
**IFO of VTS is no problem.
**v2.02 has no problem.
(3)About " Use Vmg Menu As Is" (it seems to be called "Use Vmg Menu Template Navigation" in v2.02)
*v2.5 make no change. Is it a bug?
*v2.02 and v2.51beta changes FirstPlay-command to "(JumpSS) Jump to VMGM PGC 2". It seems to be correct.
(4)About "Start Play With Movie"
*v2.5 changes FirstPlay-command(a part)
3.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1
4.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 2
5.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 3=>”(JumpVTS_PTT) Jump to TTN 1, Chapter 1 ”
**This comman can't be used in VMGM?
*v2.02 and v2.51beta changes FirstPlay-command
3.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1
4.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 2
5.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 3=>”(JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1”
**Title_3 is never replayed, except for button-selected. Is it a bug?
(5)About "Start Play With Movie",
*v2.02, v2.5 and v2.51beta make no change in FirstPlay-command.
**Is it to be "(JumpSS) Jump to VTSM 1, Root menu (TTN 1)”?
I report the rest after.

Okay you confused me: To Many past ver. on a single page
Heres what I Gleaned
Yes I broke the Vmgm #title Play Maps and VMGM # Titlesets in ver 2.02 subsequently fixed
A note in ver 2.02-2.5 I was trying everthing to get PgcEdit Trace mode to work. Turns out it would never work as PgcEdit doesn't look up offsets from tables as a player would.
#2
Hmmm - Looks like a bug
Didn't notice to this point as I've Always used Bypass Vmg PlayBack. with everything but English stripped. and never tripped other menu languages
#3
Use Vmg Menu as is >> No changes are made to VMGM FP
Note: Should only be checked when importing the menu templates (as explained in Help file)
#4
Start Play with Movie >> Should change last jump command found in FP to (JumpTT) Jump to Title 1
#5 I think you checked Start Play with Menu not Start Play with Movie >> Last Jump//link command in Vmgm FP rewritten to "(JumpSS) Jump to VTSM 1, Root menu (TTN 1)
I've never been really happy with the way I've handled Jump to Movie and Jump to Menu.
Been thinking that I should change all jump commands in FP to either "(JumpSS) Jump to VTSM 1, Root menu (TTN 1) or (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1 as chosen by user

@Fallen
Sorry to make you be confused.
But I was confused when try v2.5, because I couldn't find changes almost. I could find the change only when checking "Start Play With Movie", so compared with v2.02, and after it try v2.51bata which was released later.
I will report about only v2.52beta next.
Sorry.

jinjin_jp: Can't recreate stream bug in 2.51
A couple of Notes:
PgcEdit Save will remove dummy VTS entries from VMG_VTS_ATRT table and modifys many other things.
TW is generally designed for users (Who do not wish to learn the innards of Dvd's) to have a way to Quickly One Click menus back into a compiliation.
Specifically for retaining original menus in a DVDShrink Reauthored to movie only compiliations. (which is all I do)
If compiliation doesn't play (After Happy face if needed)
Then UNDO and add a Menutemplate (not pretty but they always work).
This has only happened once to me so far and was because the original menu was so badly authored I was seriously amazed it played at all.
And the result works in Dvd players because all jmp targets resolve to legitimate offsets.
And yes I'm taking liberties -- But look at the task and think NEWBIES/those for whom PgcEdit/Rebuilder is just to much work.
I'm strictly going by if it plays right it ain't broke.
!!!!!Post Processing Should Not Be done!!! and should not be necessary. (and can even foul up the resultant playback)
This is why Happy face, button kills etc. added to TW so some "user menu editing" could be added to the menus.
EX. Buttons to removed Bonus features can be killed and unselectable (this is within the scope of a typical Dvd backupper WYSIWYG)
PS
(I Think)Rebuilder crash on load VTS_02 is looking at the VMG_VTS_ATRT entries not the number of Titlesets at VMG offset 3E which is actually the controller for the number of titlesets.
This is actually the only number that counts (it controls all the rest of VTS operations/offsets/loads)
(This is not an error but is not how players operate)

Report_2 (about v2.52beta)

(1)Descryption(VMGM) of streams in VMG Overview,
*original
VTS_1 Audio 1: English (Dolby AC-3) 6ch 48Kbps DRC
VTS_1 Audio 2: Japanese (Dolby AC-3) 6ch 48Kbps DRC

VTS_1 Audio 3: English (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC
VTS_1 Audio 4: English (DTS ) 5ch 48Kbps DRC
**Audio changes 2=>4, SubPicture changes 2=>0.
**VMG_VTS_ATRT is same.
**IFO of VTS is no problem.
**When using MenuTemplate=Menu10Titlesets, output is same as original. When Menu4Episodic and Menu4titlesets, different from original.
(2)About " Use Vmg Menu As Is":
Command of FirstPlay is "(JumpSS) Jump to VMGM PGC 2".
It is as the expectation.
(3)About "Start Play With Movie":
Command of FirstPlay changes
3.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1
4.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 2
5.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 3=>”(JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1”
It has the problem which Title_3 is never replayed, except for button-selected.
(4)About "Start Play with Root Menu in Vts_01":
There is no change in command of FirstPlay.
Is it to be "(JumpSS) Jump to VTSM 1, Root menu (TTN 1)”?
(5)About "Bypass Vmg Playback [Non Menu items]":
PostCommand of VMGM_PGC2 ”LinkPGCN PGC 2” moves to PreCommand.
It has the problem which replay freezes, when selected the button which jump to TitleMenu(VMGM_PGC2).
(6)About "Button Hide"
Title(Episode)Menu and ChapterMenu is hided buttons which are not used. (But audio-Subpicture Menu is not hided any buttons.)
It is good that buttons jumping to titles or chapters not existed are hided.
But several adjacent buttons is hided buttons. So can't select some buttons by up/down/left/right.
When hiding buttons by PgcEdit or MenuEdit or DvdReMakePro, no adjacent buttons is hided buttons.
And if once jumping to hided buttons, can't select any buttons by up/down/left/right. I suppose the reason is width and hight of hided button is 0(zero). This point seems to be warned by DvdReMakePro and PgcEdit(red-colour displayed)
Width and hight of hided button by PgcEdit or MenuEdit is 1.(zero).
Sorry I think I can't explain well.

Explained perfectly
I gather you are only readding the generic menu's and not readding the originals
#1 Still Studying it
#3 --Fixed in next beta -- all jump/link commands rewritten to target Movie or menu selected.
#4 Yes exactly right
#5 ??which template hung up (simple way out is to UNDO and not select that option during Add Menu with Generic templates) elegance requires a better solution though
#6 Ouch -- How did I miss that -- I just nulled the commands but forgot to apply the rerouting subroutine.

*Menu4Episodic and Menu4titlesets
VTS_1 Audio 1: English (Dolby AC-3) 6ch 48Kbps DRC
VTS_1 Audio 2: English (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC
VTS_1 Audio 3: English (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC
VTS_1 Audio 4: English (DTS ) 5ch 48Kbps DRC
*Menu10Titlesets
Nothing of audio and subpicture
#3 --Fixed in next beta -- all jump/link commands rewritten to target Movie or menu selected.
Actually about original which is re-authored by DVDShrink, it is possible to avoid the problem by not selecting anything as First Play.
It's output is
Command of FirstPlay
3.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1
4.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 2
5.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 3
It seems to be replayed like "Start Play With Movie"
#5 ??which template hung up (simple way out is to UNDO and not select that option during Add Menu with Generic templates) elegance requires a better solution though
MenuTemplate which I tested is Menu4Episodic.
Thanks.

Still cant seem to duplicate prob with audio/sub streams all playback tests on Showtime etc show the proper info for the selected item.
Perhaps Sending me Pre and Post ifo's of the files in question
Just for your Info with TW You should probably disable Remapp of Enabled streams in DvdShrink. If checked the command won't align with the proper stream button in the menu
Just finished 2.53beta -- Changelog inc.
Everything but the Audio/sub fixed

(3)About "Start Play With Movie":

3.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1
4.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 2
5.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 3=>”(JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1”

5.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 3=>”(JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1”

(5)About "Bypass Vmg Playback [Non Menu items]":

There was found changes.
Audio-Subpicture Menu is hided buttons which are not used, too.
And all adjacent buttons are not hided buttons.
But there is the problem some buttons can't be selected like below.
http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/9541/tw0603034dq.th.jpg (http://img48.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tw0603034dq.jpg)
Black and pink line is of output. I think better to change from pink to blue.
And I think it need to change adjacent buttons of MenuTemplate.
The problem is only Chapter(Main)Menu, TitleMenu and Audi/SubMenu have no problem.
There seems to be no change compared with v2.52b.
But I think there is actually no problem, because hided buttons will not be seected.
I forgot one item in report_2.
When not checking ”Disable Invalid Buttons” in settings, output is same as original.
As to v2.53b, when not checking ”Disable Invalid Buttons” in settings, all buttons are not hided in output.
Thanks.

The intra button navigation flaw is in some menu templates.
seems some of the buttons at the bottom don't connect to adjacent buttons left or right.
I'm not remapping adjacent buttons just reprocessing the links that are there as follows
using these 2 conditions
Say Button A. contains a dir link to removed button
Condition 1 The dir link from removed button (matching direction) is copied to the Button A. if the second condition does not apply
Condition 2 If the matching direction link in removed button points to itself then the same direction link in Button A will be changed to point to itself.
Fixing the menutemplates is sticky as the were created with DVDLABPro beta ( at the time free). I'm a tad leery of dropping 200 to fix.
The First Play behavior is exactly as expected -- You now have menus to get where you are going --the DvdShrink FP commands are not applicable ---See the PS
PS Supplied Menutemplates should be used with Use Vmg Menu As Is checked
From your post I'm a tad unclear -- when importing any menu with 2.53beta Bypass Vmg Playback checked.
Are you saying in Vmgm realm that Dummy Pgc's or Pgc's with buttons -- post commands are being moved to pre.
I just tested 4 times with Menu4Episodic,Menu10Titlesets,Menu2movies and TW preforms correctly (it actually did nothing in all cases which is correct as there is no content outside)
Then added readded Original menu back in and the VMGM non button, non dummy pgc's were bypassed properly.

The First Play behavior is exactly as expected -- You now have menus to get where you are going --the DvdShrink FP commands are not applicable ---See the PS

I'm understanding TW can select 3 types of FirstPlay, 1" Use Vmg Menu As Is", 2"Start Play With Movie", and 3"Start Play with Root Menu in Vts_01".
Is it correct, or not?
In original command of FirstPlay which re-authored by DVDShrink is,
1.Pre Command If GPreg<0> == (cmp-val)<1><' then Goto line# 4
2.Pre Command If GPreg<0> == (cmp-val)<2><' then Goto line# 5
3.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1 =>I think real FirstPlay.
4.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 2 =>I think coresponding to what to replay after Title-:1.
5.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 3 =>I think coresponding to what to replay after Title-:2.
So I think
when checking " Use Vmg Menu As Is",
__only line 3 =>"(JumpSS) Jump to VMGM PGC 2".
when checking "Start Play With Movie",
__only line 3 "(JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1".
when checking "Start Play with Root Menu in Vts_01",
__only line 3 =>"(JumpSS) Jump to VTSM 1, Root menu (TTN 1)".
And output of is now
when checking " Use Vmg Menu As Is",
1.Pre Command Set GPreg<11> mov (set-val)<0>
2.Pre Command Set GPreg<13> mov (set-val)<0>
3.Pre Command Set GPreg<14> mov (set-val)<0>
4.Pre Command (JumpSS VMGM) Jump to VMG PGC: 2
=>I think it means Vmg Menu is repleyed at first, after Title:1, and Title:2.
when checking "Start Play With Movie",
1.Pre Command If GPreg<0> == (cmp-val)<1><' then Goto line# 4
2.Pre Command If GPreg<0> == (cmp-val)<2><' then Goto line# 5
3.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1
4.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1
5.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1
=>I think it means Title:1 is repleyed at first, after Title:1, and Title:2.
when checking "Start Play with Root Menu in Vts_01",
1.Pre Command If GPreg<0> == (cmp-val)<1><' then Goto line# 4
2.Pre Command If GPreg<0> == (cmp-val)<2><' then Goto line# 5
3.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1
4.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 2
5.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 3
=>I think it means Title:1 is repleyed at first, Title:2 is repleyed after Title:1, and Title:3 is repleyed after Title:2.
My understanding is corect, or not?
Or do you say that your output is different from me?
From your post I'm a tad unclear -- when importing any menu with 2.53beta Bypass Vmg Playback checked.
Are you saying in Vmgm realm that Dummy Pgc's or Pgc's with buttons -- post commands are being moved to pre.

Then added readded Original menu back in and the VMGM non button, non dummy pgc's were bypassed properly.
I'm under standing "Bypass Vmg Playback [Non Menu items]" means that Vmg Menu is never playbacked.
Do I misunderstanding about "Bypass Vmg Playback [Non Menu items]"?
Sorry, please teach me what you intend to by it.

Sorry to explain in English so well.
Edit
Are you saying in Vmgm realm that Dummy Pgc's or Pgc's with buttons -- post commands are being moved to pre.
I wanted to say that,
In v2.51beta, Pgc's with buttons -- post commands are being moved to pre. So freeze if replaying TitleMenu.
In v2.52beta and 2.53beta, Pgc's with buttons -- post commands are not being moved to pre. I couldn't find where was changed.
Edit_2
Then added readded Original menu back in and the VMGM non button, non dummy pgc's were bypassed properly.
I noticed my misunderstanding. Does "Bypass Vmg Playback [Non Menu items]" work for non button and non dummy pgc, not for button and dummy pgc? So does it not work in using MenuTemplate which has only button and dummy pgc?

Just uploaded 2.54Beta with Changelog
Fixed -- button Nav in MenuTemplates_simple made more elegant.
Fixed --First Play >> Movie/Menu request was being bypassed in Multi Vts compiliation.
Only the first jump command in VMGM_FP is altered On Start Menu/Movie. I think I've finally got it preforming right.
Bypass Vmg playback-- Should never touch a dummy PGC, or a PGC with buttons in VMG Realm.
This option Bypass's VMG PGC Crap. (Studio warnings,FBI warnings, et al) when readding original menus back in.
I noticed my misunderstanding. Does "Bypass Vmg Playback [Non Menu items]" work for non button and non dummy pgc, not for button and dummy pgc? So does it not work in using MenuTemplate which has only button and dummy pgc?
Correct -- Since the Menutemplates do not contain crap -- nothing is bypassed if checked.

Report_3(I tried 2.54beta, and compareed with 2.53beta)
(1)Descryption(VMGM) of streams in VMG Overview,
There seems to be no change.
I tested by changing "Number of audio streams in Title" of VMG_VTS_ATRT of MenuTemplate to 0 from 4. It is same as MenuTemplate(Menu10Titlesets) whose result was OK. But result was NG.
(2)About " Use Vmg Menu As Is":
There seems to be no change. It means Vmg Menu is playbacked after any Titles. But I think it is what you want, because selection's name is not "Start play with ..." different from other 2 selection of FirstPlay.
May I understand like this?
(3)About "Start Play With Movie":
It changes. It seems to work what I expect.
(4)About "Start Play with Root Menu in Vts_01":
It changes. It seems to work what I expect.
Found in (3) and (4), playback ends when pushing "Resume" button before any movie is playbacked. But it is trivial.
(5)About "Bypass Vmg Playback [Non Menu items]":
There seems to be no change. It is expected.(I mis understood before).
(6)About "Button Hide"
I can't find any changes.
Fixed -- button Nav in MenuTemplates_simple made more elegant.
Please teach me what was changed.
About the problem some buttons can't be selected, I tested with MenuTemplate(not just released but previous) which some adjacent buttons are corrected(from oink to blue in below figure) by MenuEdit.
http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/9541/tw0603034dq.th.jpg (http://img48.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tw0603034dq.jpg)
The result was well(I think), any buttons can be selected.
And I have a question.
Hided buttons whose width and hight is 0(zero) are illegal? Because when hide by other program, it is 1.

The problem was in the menutemplates (old) the new reworked templates act roughly as your blue lines (plus I added a few up and down directions.
The button hide algorithm uses the intra button navigation from the templates to resolve directions to Killed buttons.
Undo and readd using the new templates -- then you'll see the difference.
Hmmm -- Resume button --Unfortunately somewhat expected since I count on the hardware GPRM, SPRM hardware defaults.
I'm sure this will only happen in the gap between player insert and when ttn content actually starts.
Very minor but I'll think about it.
I'm not Hiding buttons I'm Killing them. Hiding just minimizes them killing removes everything commands, locations, direction links, mask #'s etc

Sorry, I can't find differences. Output of v2.54b works same(my pink line), which is 3 titles(each 2 chapters) by Menu4Episodic(MenuTemplate). Adjacent buttons seems to be same(but I didn't examined all, but 20-30).
And comparing vob of MenuTemplate by stirling(binary editor), I can 3 difference in VTS_01_0.VOB, but can't understand what it cprresponding to.

If "kill" means "delete"(called in PgcEdit,DvdReMakePro) or "remove"(called in MenuEdit), method of other program is to completely delete buttons. "Kill" of TW seems to be difference with "hide"&"delete" of other programs.

I'm a idiot. Uploaded the wrong menutemplates folder. Its the right one now
Uploaded TW2.541Beta - Changelog Inc.
PgcEdit is making quite a number of false assumptions as to whats legal or not in the Dvd Specs. and isn't using critical offsets as the Virtual Machine (players both software/hardware do).
PgcEdits assumptions are probably to deep to fix though
Their "Hide button" only minimizes the button and may or may not kill the command.
I think he not looking at the number of buttons in the table but reading buttons until he hits a totally killed button then ???.
Anyway --Changed TW Kill to their Hide method (although technically incorrect)
Still thinking about the Resume Prob -- It only creeps up in the menutemplates not when original menu's are readded. Technically the command shouldn't be in the button at all but a called PGC the checks if anything has been played. Hard to fix at this point as I can't reauthor the menu's from scratch.

Thanks very much. I tryed v2.541beta and new Template.
#The number of VTSs and Titles in IFO of VMGM is same as actual.
#In ChapterMenu, all buttons can be selected by adjacent(up/down/right/left).
#Width and hight of hided buttons is '1' not '0'. (There is no warning in DvdRemakePro.)

Technically the command shouldn't be in the button at all but a called PGC the checks if anything has been played. Hard to fix at this point as I can't reauthor the menu's from scratch.
I have a idea.
*Add to FirstPlay, "Gprm(1)=0".
*Add to PreCommand of each Title, "Gprm(1)=1".
*Correct Command of all Resume button, " if Gprm=(1), REsume".
(Here example is "Gprm(1)", but number of Gprm( ) must be selected from not used.)
I tested by PowerDVD and the result was expected. But I don't know in the case of other players(soft and hard).
Sorry if it's wrong idea, I'm beginner about IFO, command, etc.
I noticed tiny thing.
In new MenuTemplate, only "Menu2Movies" has VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS Folder. Is there any purpose or reason?
About IFO of stream is different from actual, I want to more consider and test. I think there is a hint in different when "Menu4Episodic" but same when "Menu10Titlesets".

Just uploaded another set of menutemplates
Yes Thats the normal way. -- incorporated in Menu1Titleset,Menu4Episodic,Menu2Movie
Not sure what will happen if Remote control Resume is hit in the gap --should do nothing on most players.
But couldn't apply to Menu4Titleset or Menu10Titleset they have to be reauthored from scratch and no Lab_pro.
Pgcedit can't directly open those 2 templates and I dont have a File with 60 chapter cuts.
So I'll have to make up a dummy to fix it.

Sorry I tested mainly(almost only) Menu4Episodic.
Pgcedit can't directly open those 2 templates and I dont have a File with 60 chapter cuts.
So I'll have to make up a dummy to fix it.
Difficult using the tools I have.
If correct adjacent of buttons, I think MenuEdit is easy. It can correct if only one VOB directry. Free version is restricted to only Group 1, but MenuTemplate seems to be only Group 1.
Or by not checking ”Disable Invalid Buttons”, I suppose to be able to edit buttons by PgcEdit because all buttons remain and not hided.
Edit
I confirmed now that when only files in MenuTemplate, PgcEdit can open, correct and save files, so need not to make up a dummy.
Similar MenuTemplate is not common?
For exsample,
Up of "EdisodeMenu"button of VTS_02 goes to "Chapter19"button, and up of corresponding button of VTS_03, 04 goes to "Chapter20"button.
Down of "MainMenu"button of Audio/SuTitleNenu of Template"Menu4Episodic" goes to "Audio 1"button, and down of corresponding button of Template"Menu4Episodic" goes to "Main Menu"button.

Sorry, I didn't noticed newer MenuTemplate when post#22, 24.
I can think it is like below?
*Add to FirstPlay, "Gprm(2)=0".
*Add to PreCommand of each Title, "Gprm(2)=1".
*Add new PGC which is jumped from Resume button, where " if Gprm(2)=1, Resume", " if Gprm(2)=0, return".
But there was found the problem which command of VTST doesn't change, so always Gprm(2)=0 and can't resume.
When "Start Play with Root Menu in Vts_01", "Gprm(2)=0" is not added to FirstPlay, too.
I think if corrected commands setting "Gprm(2)" same as MenuTemplate, it works like expected.

Ah -- If only twere that simple.
Tw must leave the ttn pre/post commands alone (a requirement when readding original menus).
Uploaded New menus In a New Folder-- extensively reworked so that the @#!&* Resume button works properly (I Hope!)
Unfortunatly TW can't AutoKill redundant title selection buttons in VMGM menu after implementing this technique.
It can see that the actual button command is not a legal Jump command.(Tw doesn't trace into Pgc's)
Those Buttons can quickly be killed by double clicking Vmgr entry and double clicking the button entry to remove.
Then The Kill Button button in Command Editor.
Not sure if that Resume button's unexpected exit is worth losing the VMG kill redundant buttons for the menutemplates though

Thanks for the new version.
Report about v2.542beta & New Template.
In case using Template"Menu4Episodic", and input is 3 Titles, each 2 chapters.
(1)There is found each Title(VTS) has Audio/SubtitleMenu, I think it is desirable, because each Title don't always have same streams, thanks.
(2)There is found command of FirstPlay changed and VMGM_PGC3 added.
I can't find where VMGM_PGC3 is used, where it is used?
(3)When selecting "Start Play With Movie", playback only Title1 repeatedly, and if using TitleMenu, playback Title1 after Title1 & 2.
It is same problem as v2.53beta.
(4)In ChapterMenu some buttons can't be selected by right/left.
It is same problem as previous MenuTemplate(released before c2.54beta).
(5)About Resume button, it is same as v2.542beta.
The reason seems to be that necessary command of setting Gprm(2) in Template is not in output.
Related to it, do I misunderstand the method of using TW? I think necessary command of template is copyed to output. Is it wrong? Do I need to copy manually?
(Actually I can't understand explanation all in English, sorry.)

About Chapter selecting button's command,
I'm using PgcEdit 0.6.4beta7, it have convinient function like below.
http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/5200/command0603074ym.th.jpg (http://img129.imageshack.us/my.php?image=command0603074ym.jpg)
It is possible to select "Jump and Call" =>"From VTSM menu" =>"to VTST Title in same VTS" =>"JumpVTS_PTT",
and there is not included "Set Gprm", but can be included "If Gprm".
And DvdRemakePro warns to this command "Invalid command format or command is not allowed in this domain"
But as you say, Pgc Edit can create command "Set Gprm and LinkPTT", by "By Type" =>"Set" =>"GPRM" =>"Set GPRM".
I can't understand what is correct.???
Edit(Adding)
I noticed in Figure that in "Set Gprm and LinkPTT" is written 'Jump to Chapter[PTT] * in current domain'. I wonder to which title it jumps when VTS has multiple title?
The other hand in "(If Gprm) LinkPTT" is written 'Jump to TTN * Chapter[PTT] *, in the same title set[VTS]'. I think it has no problem hen VTS has multiple title.

One Slight foible (I can Live with it) if the menu Resume button is used while playing chapter 1.
Resume restarts chapter 1 (Makes sense if user makes an audio or sub selection)
otherwise a standard resume.
You See the problem was there is no sprm showing if anything has actually played
So Im using sprm 7 (default 1 On Dvd Load) then updated as the chapter changes.
I just couldn't get around the fact that a register needed to be set in ttn pre commands to show playback commenced. And I couldn't do that without screwing up the original ttn pre commands.

About "restart Chapter 1 when resume in some case", I could understand what you mean.
About template, DvdReMakePro warns PGC2 of VTSM 2, 3, and 4 (VTSM 1 is no warning).

Yes But that logic causes an exit if player initially sets sprm 7 to 1 before ttn playback. Which most do
The following should work (even on PowerDVD) handles Sprm 7 =0 to boot
Set gprm(0)= (mov) 2
if(gprm(0)>sprm(7) then Jump ttn 1,ch 1

either on sprm 7 =0 or 1 you start first chapter

If Checked -- TW will not to match up audio/sub stream #'s between compiliation and menu
If Checked -- TW will delete buttons > NUMAUDIO/NUMSUBS in compiliation
If UnChecked -- TW remap streams and will delete setsn command buttons that don't have matching streams in compiliation

1 Set gprm(0) =(mov) 0
2 if ( gprm(0) == sprm(6:PGC number) ) then { LinkPGCN PGC 2 }

I want to utilize that Sprm(6:PGC Number) is 0(zero) as initial value.
It worked well by MediaPlayerClassic and JetAudioPlayer(no buggy player).
When resume before playback Movie, it returns to PGC_2.
When resume at middle of chapter_1, it resumes correctly. start from middle of chapter_1.

I think the commands you gave won't be buggy, what I said buggy is about PowerDVD.

On Both My Pioneer players -- Juke and single loader -- Both 6 and 7 were set to 1.
On Dennon 6 was 0 7 was 1
Defensively you can't count on either of those sprm's for play initialization --until a pgn beyond one is played
Nero ShowTime was buggy using your commands
I guess the Sprm used doesn't matter -- they both are ambiguous on boot so I'll stick with my logic on the templates

PowerDVD has bug about Sprm(6) not only Sprm(7).
http://www.dvd-replica.com/DVD/sprm.php
Sprm(6) of PowerDVD seems to be used as PGC of Menu not only TTN.
Because
----------------------------------------------------------
VTSM 1 , LU 1 (en) , 4 (dummy) - Chapters: n/a, Programs: 0, Cells: 0

Are you saying my current logic using sprm(7) is the best or the above
(the above never worked right in all my tests --Crashed in all tests if resume hit before playback)
I think I'm going to solve this the hard way -- Import pre/post ttn commands from menu template If generic is used
Then a simple say addition of
Set gprm(2)=0 in the VMGM root menu
And Set gprm(2)=1 in the ttn pre commands
then dummy #4 in menutemplates only needs
if gprm(2)==1 then RSM
Link LinkCN pgc2
And all chapters will resume properly in All cases with all players both soft and hard.
But with the current menutemplate ttn post command logic
I believe the Vmgm root will come up (which is actually the correct way) after a ttn is played.

This command is test for finding initial value of Sprm(6) before playback about PowerDVD.
I tested to set gprm(0) = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ---.
Only when "1 Set gprm(0) =(mov)", it jumps(returns) to PGC_2(ChapterMenu) before playback about PowerDVD.
About (my) hard-player and soft-player(MediaPlayerClassic, JetAudioPlayer),
-------------------------------------------------------
1 Set gprm(0) =(mov) 0
2 if ( gprm(0) == sprm(6:PGC number) ) then { LinkPGCN PGC 2 }

works well. I think because their initial value of Sprm(6) before playback is 0.

Thanks for new version and templates.
I tested ver2.61.
There seems to be a bug?
Cell ID (in IFO) of last cell of each Title which is added menu changes to 0(zero).
When not checking "In Generic Import Menu From VTS_01 For All VTS titles", only VTS_01 changes.
When checking it, all VTS change.
When using template"Menu2Movie", all 2 VTS change.

What does setting of "In Generic Import Menu From VTS_01 For All VTS titles" means, when using template"Menu2Movies"?
I think there seems to be no difference between checking and not checking, because both of VTS_01 and VTS_02 have VTS-menu. Understanding is correct?

Hi!Has anyone Been able To Burn A DL reliablely Via Nero Without!! converting files to an ISO in any fashionYes (All R1 - All on Verbatim DL DVD+R) - King Kong, Brothers Grimm, Beany & Cecil Special Edition, Festival Express, Matrix, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Warriors, The Great Raid, just to name a few.
All were burned from DVD "packages" (.IFOs, .BUPs, .VOBs) - NOT .ISO images...

Yes correct I could delete the menu for VTS_02 and everything would be fine if the option were checked
Look in the 10Movie or 20movie template -- there is only 1 menu in vts01. if the option is checked that menu will be imported into all vts of compiliation. if option isn't checked (when 10Movie selected) only the first would get the menu.
Only doing that to reduce size of SimpleMenu folder.
DDlooping is hosting TW and I wouldn't want to abuse storage.
Was getting requests for a 20Movie template.Just uploading that template chewed up 4 Meg versus .278 Meg with this option checkbox.
In reality all menu's were exactly the same

Aargh - 3 of my failures were on King Kong, Brothers Grim and Matrix same media, Region 1
All locked players (sometimes software and always hardware) at the layer break (Had to skip to Next ch and << to restart.
Heres my basic test workflow all steps played (soft player Showtime &WMedia) properly before burning
Playback (hard) on Pioneer (jukebox)
Pioneer Elite (single disc play)
Denon -2 players
Sony - Tested on 3 players
>>All Tests Burned properly (No errors reported via Nero)
>>Ripp Dvdd -- File Mode All
>>Burn through Nero Express (1:1 test) failed
>>Shrink Movie Only >> No Menu >> Burn (Nero Express) failed
>>Set layer break at old Vob Cell Id >> failed
>>Import menu via TW >> Failed -- Lockup sometimes at Menu
All test played perfectly when converted to ISO with layer break set
From my failures (And your sucess) -- I'm guessing some Nero setting is different or burner support is spotty
My recorder is PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-110D
I think my Pioneer 110D also does bitsetting (auto) have to check type on failures

Two points, one of them (the first) significant:
1) I use ONLY Verbatim DL DVD+Rs for DL burns

Yes I've pretty much settled on Verbatims
Doesn't make a bit of difference. Bitsetting on, firmware reflashed Pioneer latest. Straight Rip from DVDD to Nero (King Kong) to Nero Burning Rom. Total Failure.
Straight Rip via DVDShrink to Iso --again failure
Tested both compiliations >> iso -- burn imgburn Everything plays perfectly
Hell studying the Nero burned dvd at the bit level i'm surprised it even loads
They are making serious packing/allocation errors and their selection of Dl point is "Creative" to say the least.
Well I guess my question is answered Nero does not support DL properly (I was fairly sure of it).
Their Own software won't even play the F%**!! disk
It seems to be dialed in to only specific hardware configurations/setups.
I'll have to start testing other burning packages

Have you tried to burn with PgcEdit/ImgBurn? ;)
Fallen

Yes -- Works fine.
But it is a workaround
Its just the extra time/steps to convert to a format that is only useful for burning.
Been using Nero (files mode) for all SL burns and never a problem.
I like things simple --having to use so many tools/time/space to make a sucessfully burn makes me want to check into the "What the hell].
All apps work in file mode I'd like to stay there
I've dug deeply into Nero output (Sector alignment,Layerbreak) and Fully understand what they are doing. Technically it shouldn't be crashing to this extent. .
The problem in Nero lies deeper -- or shallower?
Sure wish they would add a checkbox honoring an existing layerbreak (If in Viable range)

Forget Nero! If you want to burn the files directly, buy RecordNow! Currently, with PgcEdit/Imgburn, it's the only program that can burn perfect DL DVDs. The forums on DVD burning are full of complains against Nero. The only guy that seems to be happy with Nero is stearip_old. Maybe he is particularly lucky!
Fallen

Tried RecordNow many moons in the past. Unending problems on sl recording -- thats why I bought Nero (and DvdS had internal support)
Maybe they have gotten better.
My question would be why are you using ImgBurn when your App (and everybody elses operate in File mode)
Just a matter Of free?
frank
10th April 2006, 11:31
The problem is that DVD players don't understand any file mode!!
The files must be sorted and placed properly in a compliant UDF (bridge) system! The simplest way is the use of ISO image.
This is what mkisofs does, the most compliant UDF/ISO builder. Created and tested by scientists worldwide (Linux). Astronomers of observatories over the world are using cdrtools (including mkisofs) because of it's stability.
Yes, if we could directly stream mkisofs to the burning app we would be very happy.
Nero doesn't respect the 32 sector gap and the LB setting in the files! I can't count the Nero versions (incl. my coasters) with heavy bugs!
But I myself never had a coaster with PgcEdit/mkisofs - and that is what counts.
Fallen
10th April 2006, 12:02
Yes I design dvd editing software and I am aware of all that.
I'm fairly sure I could even write a chunk of code to do the job on the fly -- just tedious (And I really don't wish to go that route)
And yet 1 person has managed to get compliant dl dvd's out of nero -- The why of it is what i'm trying to determine and if his success can be duplicated.
Is it his winning smile -- I think not
This would greatly simplify all workflows involving "files" and save me the trouble of coding a Dvd dl "file" burner that works
r0lZ
10th April 2006, 13:17
My question would be why are you using ImgBurn when your App (and everybody elses operate in File mode)
Just a matter Of free?As Frank says, it's simply because the mkisofs/imgburn combo is the best burning app around. However, that's not sufficient to burn DL DVDs (otherwise ImgTool Classic should be able to do that, but it isn't.) PgcEdit must be used to modify the IFOs so that mkisofs will place the files at the right position.
Unfortunately, Nero doesn't respect what's in the IFOs, and decides itself where to put the LB. And the 32K gaps are ignored. I really don't like a program that doesn't respect the wishes of the user! Nero has also the reputation to burn many DL coasters.
Perhaps, if you are happy with its layer break decision and the fact that the burned DVD will be more subject to damages, you will find a bugfree version of Nero. Honestly, I haven't tried the newest releases. Why should I use an expansive bike when I have a Rolls-Royce for free?
But I must admit that the ISO creation is an unnecessary step that should be avoided if possible. Currently, ImgBurn doesn't accept a direct stream as input. I have asked Lightning UK! to support that, but he doesn't want, because he wants to verify the ISO compatibility before launching the burn. Pity! :(
I hope he is working on a way to burn directly the DVD files... :)
Fallen

The 32Kb gaps (I assume you are talking between Ifo & bup are trivial IMHO) most commercial dvd's don't bother.
Its not nero's selection of dl thats bothering me so much (I think I've found a configuration that works) but the crash/lockup during menu's. This is stumping me
And no I'm also unwilling to sink more $ into a program where they essentially say they fully support DL burns -- but do not
Just downloaded/tested RecordNow again still crashes.
You are right -- ImageBurn >>Support File Mode burn would be the Ideal :) :) . since all Ifo/Vob/Editing manipulation is in file mode
At least LightningUK listens to users
r0lZ
10th April 2006, 14:22
The 32Kb gaps (I assume you are talking between Ifo & bup are trivial IMHO) most commercial dvd's don't bother.
That's only partially right. I have many commercial DVDs with large gaps between IFO and BUP files. And most often, there is no need for the gaps on commercial DVDs, because the VOB files are long enough.
But since VIDEO_TS.VOB is often removed by the users to avoid the stupid logos and warnings and to regain some space, if you don't use the 32K gap option, VIDEO_TS.IFO and VIDEO_TS.BUP will probably share a common ECC block. If there is a little read error just on this block, the DVD is totally ruined. Therefore, keeping the 32K gaps is very important!
(The same problem can occur in the title domains, too, but since it is not possible to remove totally a title VOB, it is relatively rare that the total size of the VOB files of a titleset is less than 32KB.)
Its not nero's selection of dl thats bothering me so much (I think I've found a configuration that works) but the crash/lockup during menu's. This is stumping meAs I said, there are really many problems with Nero! ;)

@Fallen
What is your problem with the PgcEdit + ImgBurn combination?
Is it the time needed for creating the ISO (only a few minutes)?
Is it the additional space needed on your hard disk (current capacities >300GB)?
Do you don't trust it?
I never had a coaster since I use it.
And I think the 32K option will be useful for you too, if one day a small scratch has made the IFO unreadable and the player has access to the BUP file. Without this option a single scratch can make the whole DVD useless, if IFO and BUP are in the same DVD block.

No problem with imgburn at all except that its a workaround and the extra time required isn't trivial over the long haul (takes about 20 to 30 for a dvd-dl here).
I've done close to a 1000 dvd's without the 32k -- not one problem with any.
And kids are seriously rough with them.
And any scratch that takes out both the ifo & the bup will trash so many other sectors that the dvd will be useless anyway.
Unless of course you are boring holes with a 70uf laser in your dvd's
r0lZ
10th April 2006, 15:07
A scratch in a VOB file is usually not fatal. You will probably not notice it, or your DVD will only freeze for some frames. But a scratch in an IFO and his backup is fatal!
You have been lucky... until now!
What computer and HDD are you using? 30 minutes to create an ISO, even on the same physical drive, it's really worthy of stone age! On my (relatively old) computer, it takes around 6 minutes.
Fallen
10th April 2006, 18:21
well we'll agree to disagree on the 32kb. Does no harm if its there (although I seriously doubt the specs support whitespace)
And does require all post apps equivalent of "Get Vts sectors" to honor even though the table lengths don't add up properly)
regularly use 2.4Ghz athlon dual 120Gb Hard drives 1024Meg and work i/o back and forth (fully defragged and DMA on) between the 2.
C: is usually about 60% free.
D: is blank when I start a DVD backup session
Most Shrinking takes 4-8 minutes (movie only)with no compression, and DVDD ripps a disk (Usually) in about 7-12 Min.
r0lZ
10th April 2006, 18:39
Yes, the "gaps" (not sure it's the official word) are fully supported by the DVD specs! As I said, I have seen many commercial DVDs with large gaps between files. Unfortunately, there are many poor programs that doesn't support them, notably Nero!
None of the table length are related to the gaps.
If you can shrink a DVD in 7-12 min, you should be able to create the ISO a littel bit faster (because the processor has less to do.) The speed of the read/write operation is the same for all applications, and depends only of the hardware.
