As a newbie, what I discovered to be the easiest way to get clips extracted from DVDs.

1. Use DVD Decryptor to extract the .VOB files from the DVD. (Make sure you configure the settings to create ONE large VOB file rather than a bunch of smaller VOB files.)

2. Rename the .VOB files to .MPG ( at this point you could also use SUPER! to encode to a compressed mp2 avi file)

3. Use Ulead Video Studio 7 (or some other video editing software) to cut the clip into separate clips.

4. Master a new DVD by dropping clips onto a new DVD in any order you like.

Here is a tutorial how to join multiple DVD discs (or clips) to one DVD: http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdshrink31-multidisc.htm

i am a very savvy technical user and I couldnt get DVDShrink to work on my computer. if it wasn't so hard to explain how to set it up, then I might consider that method. It doesn't necessarily work out of the box.

the method I posted above is SIMPLE and easy to explain to someone and it doesnt require any unknown or wierd configuration settings.

its simple:
1. copy .VOB to computer (sometimes you need DVD decryptor to do this, most of the time you dont)
2. rename to .VOB to .MPG
3. open the MPG with SUPER!, choose AVI container, and click ENCODE
4. done.

Hi!i am a very savvy technical user and I couldnt get DVDShrink to work on my computer. if it wasn't so hard to explain how to set it up, then I might consider that method. It doesn't necessarily work out of the box.I'd suggest to you that, if that was your experience (unable to get DVD Shrink to work/hard to explain how to set up), you are indeed in a very small minority.

Are you sure you aren't referring to a different program, such as "Shrinkto5"? I ask, because the only thing required to install DVD Shrink is a doubleclick of the left mousebutton...
