I re-encoded a 7.5gb film with dvd-rb and it played fine on PC.

I just went to burn the copy but got this message in Nero.

Ive posted it in this forum because it involes DVD-DB.

I didnt add or take anything out of the copy it was just a plain re-encode to get it on one disc, ive never had this message appear before.
Can anyone help please?

That's actually an incorrect error message presented by NERO. The original DVD had that file present -- so DVD Rebuilder is obligated to include it as well. It has to be there in order to truly be a backup of the original disc.

You will find that NERO sometimes raises a flag when a "zero length" file is included on the disc as well. It's the same issue.

This is one of the reasons I so highly recommend burning with ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter (they are both free and are supported directly by DVD-RB). They don't try to second guess the authoring program and raise issues over nonsense. IMHO Nero shouldn't be "reallocating" anything created by this or any other authoring package.

I personally don't use Nero -- but I think others have reported that you can ignore that message and just burn.

Thanks a lo t for for helpful and fast response, i was pulling my hair out trying to figure what id done wrong.

So are you saying i would be better off selecting MODE>'Output to ISO Image File' within DVD-RB?

At the moment DVD-RB is set to make a Video_TS folder and i burn that with Nero?

Yes. Output to an ISO. You can also select "Automatically Burn" from the "Select ISO Output Options" dialog. Rebuilder will detect if you have ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter installed and use one of them for the burn.

In fact, if you have AnyDVD loaded, you can put a DVD to be copied in one drive, put a blank in another drive, set the paths, push "Backup", and come back to a completed copy of the original.

DVD Rebuilder will always create the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folder -- and burning them works fine too. I've done lots of them that way with "B's Recorder Gold" (it came free with my drive).

This is great news. How do you set the paths? I selected Output to an ISO and selected "Automatically Burn". I have ImgBurn. I installed it after DVD Decrypter was installed. It took the place of the image burn of Decrypter. I also have AnyDVD loaded.

I have the work path and destination path set up as two separate DVD Rebuild temp. folders.

The DVD9 is located in the Rom Drive and the blank DVD-R is located in a burn drive.

Is this the way to set the paths?

I got the following error:

DVD -RB ERROR

DVD-RB couldn't locate a program file in working directory. You
must PREPARE and ENCODE first.

I have CinemaCraft Encoder set up correctly in "Path to CC Basic " which I purchased after the download of DVD Rebuilder.

The following is a transcript of what transpired:

If you would like to use Nero then running the encoded files with PgcEdit should do the trick. Once PgcEdit checks that the disc meets DVD standards then it'll be fine to burn with Nero.

I don't believe you have the path to CCE Basic configured properly. If it were you would be able to see the version rather than "UNKNOWN" in the log. If you are using CCE Basic you should be pointing directly to the executable file CCT2.EXE. Browse to the correct file on the Setup dialog. Also make sure you have selected CCE Basic under "SETTINGS/CCE SETTINGS"

@nomorecoasters

Hi!

"jdobbs" has already explained the reasons that NERO will generate that INFORMATION notice (Either a -0- byte file or a .VOB that's not referenced in the .IFOs - which is one way for "Easter eggs" to be placed on a DVD). All you have to do is choose to continue with the burn...

Your absolutely correct. I figured it out shortly after my last post. I had to open the file up and highlight the CCE icon. Now it reads CCE BsicVerision 2.70.1.9 and in the set up mode it reads " C/Program Files/Technology/Cinamacraft Encoder Basic/cc2.exe. I completed a burn. It started encoding at 19:12:52 and was done at 21:58:35 PREPARE/ENCODE/REBUILD COMPLETED IN 166 MIN.

The set up was as I mentioned. However I did not need a temporary destination path folder, just a working path folder.

Thank you for all of your help. After investing the money I wanted to see a return. I really liked the ImageBurn Program. That was the frosting on the cake.

I can now feel free to set it up over night when I occasionally get a very long video.

jdobbs: Does the process you mentioned (with AnyDVD) work without leaving the DVD-drive running? If not, is there any way an option could exist that would allow the setup you mentioned with AnyDVD running that copies the DVD to a temp folder on a hdd? i would hate to leave my DVD drive running for 166 mins with the intensity DVD-RB forces.....

What you are referring is a standard way of doing it.

1. Load Daemon Tools onto the computer (it's freeware).
2. Set Daemon Tools for multiple drives (I use four).
3. Rip to an ISO file (with DVD Decrypter or another package) Note: You can use DD over the top of AnyDVD to make sure it doesn't choke on newer methods.
4. Mount the ISO(s) using Daemon Tools.

I usually mount the ISOs (anywhere from 2 to 4) that I'm backing up and start a batch job before I go to bed. When I get up the next morning -- I have 2-4 output ISOs ready for burning with ImgBurn. Of course you could also run it with only one and do the burn during the night as well. DVD-RB can even be set to turn your computer off when it's done.

yes, i could do the same thing with folder mode, im still confused why you guys use iso's. either way it takes the same space on the drive, i guess the adv is not being able to inadvertently delete oringial files. what i am suggesting is a dvd-rb process that copies from DVD-ROM drive to Temp folder.

It's just a convenience. It works exactly the same way.
