View Full Version : Problem with reencoding menu (NuMenu) and removing PGC:s

Hello everyone, hoping someone can give me some help with my 2 problems.

The first is that when i use NuMenu to reencode a menu it seems to break the chapters. When i try to select a chapter/scene from the menu it immediately returns to the menu, if i start the movie and press Next Chapter it sometimes skips an entire chapter (6 to 8, 9 to 11 etc) and sometimes works, but starts and ends at the wrong time. The end of the movie shows the correct length, but PC based dvd-programs shows it as only being 60% progressed through the entire movie. It also seems the menufile isn't actually smaller after reencoding.
It works well when using the original menu, but it would be nice if i could get the menu size down.
ANyone have any idea of what could be the trouble?

The second problem i have is that the removed features (meaning trailers and the intros) get a totally black picture (vob file is about 500KB in size so it's truly removed), but it seems that the scene end isn't modified so it shows a black picture for the entire trailer length.
Is it possible to manually edit the end time/length for those VOB's without breaking the entire movie?

As you can probably tell i'm pretty unknowledgable about this stuff so any help is greatly appreciated.

I use Scenarist 2.7, DoItFast4U, Scenaid 1.7.0.7 and NuMenu 2.0.25, all configured after the Big Three guide here on doom9.

Cheers,
Linus

Sometimes I got same first problem of Shadowsoul...
An in worst of cases the player stops at the final of chapter instead of return to menu

Unusual that is for sure - material has been removed but the ifo not corrected. hmm
For now locate the cell that is at fault and the relevant PGC in the menu part of the ifo and alter the still time for that cell to 0. You can find this info from using the trace mode in pgcedit.

Been playing around with PGCEdit for a few hours now and i can't for the life of me figure out how it works or what things mean...

I've managed to find a "PGC Still Time (255=Infinite)", but the box that's editable is greyed out on all the removed titles and has a value of 0.

Is there any simpler way to check/edit the things? (i have about 0 knowledge about this kind of stuff)

Thanks for the first answer.

Cheers,
Linus

You could test the all-mighty trace-function available in pgcedit. You can turn it on from Trace -> Trace mode.
Then press run and see what happens.. and what happens if you change some values etc.
