View Full Version : Quicktime decoder plugin for HighProfile?

I want to set up my website: 2 movies (16 minutes and 3 minutes) in 720x306 and 720x296 resolution. And I see that the Quicktime-Encoder is realy worse in bitrates below 1 MBit/s. So I encode my movies with x.264 from now and I'am realy impressed. The only problem is: Quicktime doesn't support HighProfile and many other things.

Is there any free decoder plugin for Quicktime on Mac and Windows to install so that people watching my site can handle these little movies???

In fact QT7 AVC is not bad but use baseline profil. IMO H264 baseline profil is not better than MPEG4 ASP and I think that you must use the same profil for x264 with quick time player ...

IMO use DivX with divx web player is perhaps better choice.

...or macromedia flash video encoder (based on on2's VP6 and needs only the flash player plugin installed in the browser)...

Thank you for quick answer. but i realy want to use avc on my website and x.264 is realy an evolution compared to divx a.s.o. so the question is even: is there any avc-decoder-plugin for the quicktime-player???

hm, pity!

i use megui at the moment, but my qt-profile is gone - no idea where!!! can you give me a summary of what is required for watching x.264-streams in quicktime. maybe it's important to encode with mainconcept-encoder, too?!

IMHO it's slightly better, because of H.264/AVC's deblocking. ;)

TCPMPx can handle it but the unless you have the full version locally... the AVC decoder will only load a 'DEMO' and stop working after one month/30 days.

Below is a demo of our CorePlayer web browser plug-in (TCPMPx).This installer is for IE and Firefox... but the plug-in will work in Netscape/Mozilla/Opera 9.

This older version still has the FireFox 'crash' after you go to the webpage... this has been fixed in newer version. As well as a new right click menu.
