About the 2 known YUV render models, is there a way to store info about them to a xvid/mpeg4 encode so that one can be sure that the content will be rendered with the original model?
(DVDs are encoded (and should look better) with BT.709 model "in mind", other than that it seems the default is BT.601)

there is a provision to store color model information within the bitstream, however i am unaware of any decoder that makes use of this information, or any decoding platform (including directshow) that allows the decoder to specify the preferred yuv color model.
