* This version allows the user to specify different AVS templates for AVS script generation (or to disable AVS script generation).

* Made transport stream detection more robust

* The Parse D2V log now includes the running time of the video.

* The quants log now includes the frame numbers at which the matrices appear.

* Fixed garbage in file list caused when hitting the Up button with an empty list.

* Added a new option called Use Full Paths. When enabled,
behavior is as it always has been. When disabled, only file
names (not full paths) are used as references in the D2V and
generated AVS files. This makes it easier to move project files.
This new option was contributed by Christian Eberl. Thank you, Chris!

* Changed the exception handling in DGIndex. Previously an exception would abort the entire preview or save project operation. Now only the current picture decoding is aborted.

* Added an option to enable/disable the use of the DirectDraw overlay.

* Improved the misleading error message a user gets if he erroneously loads a file with MPEG2Source() that is not a D2V project file. Previously it complained about a version mismatch; now it says the file is not a project file.

* Added an option to dump the audio and video PTS/DTS timestamps encountered during a Save Project operation.

* Demuxing DTS audio from transport streams is now supported.

* Added an option to force proper parsing of audio when
the stream is not DVD-structured (i.e., when there is no audio
substream number and associated DVD header). For example,
AC3 audio could not be processed from MPG files captured by
a FusionHDTV RT Gold 5 card.

* Fixed problem that made it impossible to demux MPEG1
video from transport streams.

* Fixed a problem that caused a long delay before a play or
preview operation begins for some transport streams.

* Fixed the issue of DGMPGDec using the coded picture size
(always a multiple of 16) instead of the stream declared
display size. This caused 1080i streams to be treated as
1088i, for example.

* Improved the Luminance and Cropping filters in DGIndex.

* Corrections and additions to documentation.

I can't think of any significant, though more use of SSE2 and SSE3 extensions would please the Pentium 4 players. Is there any way to optimise it more?

thanks neuron2 im sure there are big things in store for DGMPGDec

maybe im just too tired, but i cant seem to get the -AT=[AVS template file] parameter to work. should it be placed in a particular order? i.e. -IF -OF -AF or does it rely on other parameters to be present to work from the cmd line?

Please give me the complete command line that you claim did not work. Also, explain exactly what you mean by "did not work".

of course, here is the code:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>C:\avstempltest\dgmpgdec147b1\DGIndex.ex
e -AT=[C:\avstempltest\myTemplate.avs] -IF=[C:\avstempltest\testVideo.mpg] -OF=[
C:\avstempltest\out](other parameters should be taken from ini, i think)

explain exactly what you mean by "did not work"
i assume an avs file is supposed to be produced, identical to the template except for the __vid__ placeholder replaced with the path to d2v file

edit: it seems if i manually edit the DGIndex.ini to include the path to the template file, it all works swell

Donald, could you make DGIndex to have an option to manually specify the framerate that'll be written to d2v file? There are a lot of DVDs that are released at PAL 25 instead of 23.976 (24000/1001), and now I have to manually overwrite the Frame_Rate value in d2v file..

Also an option do demux specified audio tracks WITHOUT saving d2v project would be great.

That's not making any sense to me. Can you provide a sample VOB?

There are a lot of official DVD (produced for/in Russia!) that are released in PAL 25 and are absolutely normal PAL DVDs :).
But original movie is 24 frames per second. So to make a proper encode I have to change fps value in d2v file (and, of course, recode audio track, stretching it according to the framerate change).

Now to change framerate in d2v I have to open file manually and change 25000 (25/1) to 23976 (24000/1001). So it'd be convenient to specify the framerate in DGIndex. It's not the bug in DVD, but a sort of bug in DVD producers' mind. ;)

(Does it happen in Russia only? :))

Wouldn't it make more sense to put an AssumeFPS() in your script?

Wouldn't it make more sense to put an AssumeFPS() in your script?

Yes, I can put it in script but I thought DGIndex should be treated apart from Avisynth and offer this feature too, because d2v project doesn't necessary will be used in script.

@neuron2
Just to remind you :) :
- An "Info only" (info of the streams - that way we wouldn't need to use another tool to know wich audio track -language/format - to demux before creating the project file)mode using cli too, of course

- Avrg Bitrate specified on the project (and maybe the streams info as well)

- Cuts by command line (would be nice :))

Hi neuron2 I want to report a small problem happining with ALL versions of DGIndex I tried and .VRO files created by my Toshiba RD-XS32 HDD/DVD recorder.

The problem is that if I make a HDD recording then select a chapter border and "dub" it to DVD-RAM the chapter end and start position are "shifted".
I mean when I open it with DGIndex it usually a bit more (earlier) then I selected on recoder and less (end earlier) on the end.

I mean on one hand obiously Toshiba does something wrong here but on the other hand when I play the stuff I dubbed on DVD-RAM using the player it DOES shows untill the end...
So somehow DGInex "misses" the end part.

I have no clue about VRO format
but I guess for some reason Toshiba writes more on start and records somewhere the lenght and DGIndex uses this lenght to know where the end but starts from beginning of the clip file.

This is not related to DGindex 1.4.7 specifically, but recent versions in general. I upgraded to 1.4.6 today (not sure which version I had previously) and found that I was not able to load the d2v files that were made with older versions. Now, in the past, DGIndex has been really good about supporting old d2v files... you just load the old file and then resave it. But, apparently this doesnt work anymore

Since I don't know what version I had been using before, I have a lot of d2v files that are now unusable and I'm not sure what version to downgrade to if I want to access them :scared:

With that said, would it be possible to add better backwards compatability into DGIndex? I tend to work on projects that involve me keeping d2v files around for months at a time.

Zarxrax
4th March 2006, 18:01
Hmmm, are you implying that it might be difficult or impossible to do?
Otherwise, I think the way DGIndex has always handled old projects in the past was pretty good. While I don't know for sure that dgindex always suopported every old d2v file out there, it at least supported all the ones I needed it to.

Things have always basically gone like this:
I see there is a nice new update of DGIndex, so I download it.
Sometime later, I go to work on something, and I get an error that DGDecode can't read my old d2v file anymore.
I load the d2v file in DGIndex, then I re-save the project.
Now I open up the file just as I did before.

With the newer versions of DGIndex, If I try to load the old d2v file, it will just tell me that its obsolete and I should remake it :|

Since the first line of the d2v file tells the version of the file, you should be able to simply set up a branch of code to read in that older format right? Or maybe simply a standalone tool that would convert it to the new project format?

Incidentally, my old d2v files say they are version 6.

Well... if you think a little about the problem you'll see that it won't take you too much time to re-do the project file ;)

No, of course its not a problem if you just load in some vobs and convert it to a project file and thats it... but if you have set in and out points in your original project files, this can be very difficult to recreate!

Hi,

Firstly let me say on record a thanks for such a great application.
I don't appear to be able to save my AVS template location, I see the information is not being written to the ini file. Am I missing something simple here? I close the app after saving the file and re open and check the location, it defaults to C:\Documents

I don't appear to be able to save my AVS template location Please tell me the EXACT sequence of operations I need to make this happen. Also, post the entire INI file as it is after you set up your template directory and then exit the application. Also, bear in mind that the INI file is in the same directory as DGIndex.exe, so be sure that you get the right one if you have DGIndex.exe copies in different places.

What about ability to demux audio without saving the project? You have to justify feature requests. :)

It's not going to be appreciably faster, and if you are worried about overwriting an existing D2V file, then just specify a different filename.

I have a small request: could you make the quant matrix log show the position (in frame numbers) where the different matrices have been found? Our esteemed moderator 'manono' suggested this to me some time ago, and it just reocurred to me earlier this evening, strangely enough. Now that your corroboration completes the trinity, something must be done.

There is a small technical complication that I need to ask you about. Do you want the returned frame numbers to be relative to encoded frame numbering or display frame (after pulldown) numbering? Or should it be optional?

EDIT: I'll just print both as is done in the Parse D2V log.

Boulder
7th March 2006, 07:13
For me it doesn't matter since I mostly deal with PAL material. But for regular usage, displaying both would probably be the best option.

(I guess both manono and me would like to see how CCE's adaptive quant matrix works :) )

I had an idea for a feature, but maybe it has been suggested before. How about the ability to join mutliple d2v files into a single project properly so it corrects any audio delays and such?

It would be really helpful for shows like the Lord Of The Rings Extended Editions that span more then one dvd.

The request was just to improve usability. :)

When saving to different filename now I have to do these unnecessary things:
- specify another filename
- delete new project file after saving
- rename demuxed audio files (according to the name of main project)

Why pass it to DGDecode, which is a video decoder? The Quick Start guide explains how to serve video and audio together.

Other plugins can open video and audio (DirectShowSource, AviSource) why not MPEG2Source too? It would be more easy to compress audio in virtualdub.
My audio source is MPA and I always need to convert in WAV to use WAVSource. If MPEG2Source can open audio too, my life would be more easy.

you can use nicaudio.dll to load every "usuall" mpeg2 audio formats into the avs script.

acrespo
13th March 2006, 18:08
I usually use Besweet to convert MPA files to WAV. Then I open AVS in virtualdub and load the WAV file to compress in MP3 format. I do other way too: convert MPA to WAV, load WAV in the script with WAVSource and compress in virtualdub.
I think it's too many passes to do. When I compress AVI files I only use AVISource and load in virtualdub to compress both audio and video. I don't need to do dgindex project and besweet conversion. I am trying to make all process more fast. I did too many videos and I don't have much time.

I am thinking other thing: If dgdecode.dll could manipulate the mpeg2 (video and audio) files directly without do d2v project in dgindex, the process will be more easy yet!! Why not? ;)

Rockas
13th March 2006, 18:22
I'm not a VirtualDub expert but... would'nt it work with a script like:

loadplugin("d:\tests\dgdecode.dll")
loadplugin("d:\tests\nicaudio.dll")
v=MPEG2Source("D:\Tests\teste3.d2v")
a=DelayAudio(NicMPASource("D:\Tests\teste3 -40ms.mpa", 2),-0.040)
AudioDub(v,a)

I'm not sure about this... but it would be easier to neuron2 if he "supports" the audio through the AVS template (if it doesn't support already )

Guest

@acrespo

Please consider the "wrapper" solutions like GK, etc., if ease of use is your primary goal.

There is a perfectly adequate process to avoid multiple passes. It is just as given in the Quick Start guide and as Rockas has shown. If you set up your AVS template correctly, you won't even have to think about it.

DGDecode needs the index information from DGIndex to work. Putting all the DGIndex functionality into DGDecode has been suggested (see Development list).

Consider this just a retoric question... but feel free to answer :D

Most of the encoders use "kbps" for bitrates so... I wonder... why does DGIndex gives "Mbps" results?

I noticed that when making my calculations for target sizes when encoding and the funny stuff is that I can multiply by 1000 and it comes out fine... should the multiply be by 1024? is bitrate velues following the DVD media makers scale? :)

Previously an
exception would abort the entire preview or save project operation.
Now only the current picture decoding is aborted.

notice the black line in the bottom?

Here are the avs and the dgindex options im using, the source video is 800x600 @ 24fps, resize to 640x480 with bicubic:
start /low/b/w D:\DGIndex\DGIndex.exe -IA=7 -OM=0 -IF=[%~1] -OF=[%~dpn1] -exit

loadplugin("D:\DGIndex\DGDecode.dll")
mpeg2source("D:lapis_pvs.d2v").BicubicResize(640,480, 0, 0.5)

Ive tried serveral options and resizer but still cant get rid the black line, am i doing something wrong?
its only happen when 800x600 mpeg1 video clips resized to any resolution.

tried this last night and loved the option to create an avs script with the clips name.

looked through this thread and the included read me's and couldnt see if there was an option to do the same with the ac3 if used as a source in the AVS script? hopefully the same with the audio delay info

i.e.
Video=mpeg2source("clip.d2v")
Audio=directshowsource("clip T01 3_2ch 384Kbps DELAY 66ms.ac3")
DelayAudio(0.066)

filling in this info automatically?

if this is not possible at the mo, any chance of making it a feature request for future versions? :)

would save time when doing a lot of scripts

EDIT

just found the __aud__ option - must have missed that one last time. hopefully will find an option somewhere for the delay also :D

I have a feature request - when a .ts file is opened by dragging it over the window and dropping, the File List requester is shown. However, when using Open With in the context menu, DGIndex is launched but fails to open the file. Apparently windows calls the app with "appname.exe" "%1" where %1 is the filename.

neuron2,

great job on the program, but i got the following issues:

1)
i have a recording into a .TS file, the show itself is 5.1, but before the show starts it is only 2.0 .

when decoding the output file will say it's 2_0 while it is actually 5.1 (verified with GSpot).

can you tell the program to set the output file to say 2_0 by default if it is ac3, but change it to 3_2 if dg detects a 5.1 audio during the decoding?

2)
can you not close the information dialog when i do a manual seek using the bar at the bottom? it would be nice to see the time-stamp for example during seek to have an idea when a show is over...

thanks

I didn't read the whole thread but I found something in 1.4.7b6 and I thought I would share it with you guys.
I created a project of my Batman Begins PAL from a MainMovieOnly rip with DVDDecrypter.
In the end I used ParseD2V.
Here's the bottom lines:
[GOP]
201429 [B]: 201429,201429.......2
201430 [B]: 201430,201430.......2
201431 [I]: 201431,201431.......2
201432 [P]: 201432,201432.......2
[EOF]
Running time = 2 hours, 134 minutes, 17 seconds
Shouldn't it read only 134 minutes and 17 seconds?
But it reads 2 hours, 134 minutes and 17 seconds.
Strange, I'd say it's a bug...
Am I right?
I would be glad to hear your comments.

Hi,

With this last beta, delay for audio isn't computed well. Filename says 0 ms and real delay was -288 ms (audio was advanced over video).

It occurs on DVD Chicken Little, after stripping multiangle scenes (over the original footage, dgindex report all the angles sequentially, and I could not remux reencoded m2v file)

Thanks.

There has been no change to the audio delay calculation code for a long, long time.

It's never going to be perfect. For one thing, streams sometimes have discontinuous timestamps, and that really messes things up. Also, the delay is calculated only at the very beginning of the stream, so if there is some anomaly at the start, as there often is, again, things can get messed up. I use the delay value as a starting value to try. Sometimes it is off and I have to tweak it manually.

When the MPEG stream is played directly, the timestamps are used to directly sync the audio and video. So the sync offset can and often does change during a broadcast, especially at content cuts (e.g., show to commercial and back, one program to another, etc.). But when you encode to a format like AVI that doesn't have timestamps you have to guess one offset to use for the entire stream.

Ideas for improving the design are always welcome. Yes, I already know about the idea of inserting/deleting audio to make a stream with a constant (selectable) sync offset. One thing that I will try for the next beta is to have a display of the current sync offset in the information dialog box. I also want to expose all of DGIndex's analysis about the stream via the CLI.

In this case I've found by trial and error a value of -300. So, when ReJig V0.5e (you'll know, a mpeg requantizer from Nic) gives me a value of -288 I think that, perhaps, knowing the algorithm from Nic's app could help.

neuron2,

can you please explain how an audio can be out of sync? how can that happen? i just don't get it...

i mean, the audio plays along with the video on the same time-slot on the same frame, i just don't understand how they can get off. if we have a 30min long video file, how come each video frame does not correspond to the same frame in the audio? i.e frame 30 in the video sequence plays along with frame 30 of the audio track, this is something i fail to understand.

the really thing that puzzles me about audio sync issues is the fact the original file capture plays flawless (or so perceived) in a media player yet it goes totally out of sync when demuxed and encoded...

would you please elaborate on that?

thanks

i mean, the audio plays along with the video on the same time-slot on the same frame, No. There are no time slots, the video and audio access units are completely different and do not necessarily correspond one-to-one, and neither one carries access unit numbering (except for temporal order, which is useful only at the GOP level).

i just don't understand how they can get off. if we have a 30min long video file, how come each video frame does not correspond to the same frame in the audio? i.e frame 30 in the video sequence plays along with frame 30 of the audio track, this is something i fail to understand. See above.

the really thing that puzzles me about audio sync issues is the fact the original file capture plays flawless (or so perceived) in a media player yet it goes totally out of sync when demuxed and encoded... That usually happens only in pathological situations, for example, your stream mixes audio at different rates (commercials sometimes have different audio rates than the main program). As I already mentioned, if the player plays the MPEG directly, it can present the audio and video correctly by using the PTS timestamps. These timestamps do not exist in AVI and so their information is lost.

What do you mean by demuxing? Specifically, were you doing Save Project or Save Project and Demux Video? Were you demuxing audio?

Try disabling audio processing and then do Save Project. Does that cause a problem?

This beta adds the capability to demux DTS audio from transport streams. Thanks to SeeMoreDigital for providing test streams, and to gabest (Media Player Classic developer) for advice on detecting DTS streams.

http://neuron2.net/dgmpgdec/dgmpgdec147b9.zip

Note to SeeMoreDigital: The second stream you provided has a PAT/PMT table that shows a DTS audio on PID 0x25. But that PID does not appear in the stream, as you can see by doing Raw PID Detection. I don't know why the PAT/PMT table includes that entry. It's always advisable to do an F5 preview to make sure the audio is actually found on a PID before doing the entire Save Project operation. In your stream, the DTS audio is on PID 0x24.

Your work is invaluable and this, just the latest of many improvements to make DGMPEGDec more functional, has helped so many people get the most from their transport streams. So I'd like to thank you for your extensive and ongoing labours. Someone richer than I ought to pay you for this valuable work.

I use the tool constantly to index TS files, on a daily basis. DTS decoding will be an invaluable addition to the mix. From my extensive TS collection, I'd say that about ten to fifteen percent of such files have a DTS track.

A question (maybe asked before): is it feasible to serve the decoded audio stream via the dgmpegdec plugin and avs file to an application?

SeeMoreDigital

Many thanks Donald,

I think the sample I first gave you is the one I ran thru' MPEG2 Repair in order to give the DTS stream priority over the two AC3 streams.

The source was originally sent to me by somebody who wanted to know whether the Zensonic Z500 (I was beta testing at the time) could play "progressive" 1920x1080/88 MPEG-2 video running at 25fps complete with DTS audio!

Needless to say the player could ;)

Now, after all Donald's hard work it would be cool to find a "muxer" that can re-mux the elementary 1920x1080/88 MPEG-2 video and DTS audio streams back together. Imago MPEG-Muxer and MPEG Multiplexer are having none of it :scared:

A question (maybe asked before): is it feasible to serve the decoded audio stream via the dgmpegdec plugin and avs file to an application? You can demux the DTS audio and then decode it with NicAudio.dll and serve it in the standard way, as described in the Quick Start guide.

loadplugin("nicaudio.dll")

So I'd like to thank you...I must add my admiration and thanks as well. I'm one of those guys who, though not a "newbie", has been stumbling around using one-click tools like AGK and FUW and getting decent-but-variable results, all the while being mostly clueless as to what goes on in the background w/these programs.

Recently I started using StaxRip cuz I needed more codec flexibility, and it comes built defaulting to ProjectX to demux my TS files. Well, I come to find out that DGindex can do this all by itself and without the attendant errors/problems PX has with ATSC streams. Further, it only demuxes the audio saving lots of time & hdd space...

I ramble, but I must say I am sleeping with the DGindex manual under my pillow these days, and in general I have learned more from the neuron2 site than any other single source. I even, thanks to Mr. Graft, know enough now to "Inspect for Motion" any new program, and in most cases I even know what to do about it! A breakthrough folks! I'm finally learning this stuff!!! :D

Good news for Fusion card owners!

Fixed a problem that prevented DGIndex from processing
audio streams from private stream 1 when the stream is not
DVD-structured (i.e., when there is no audio substream
number and associated DVD audio header). For example, AC3 audio
could not be processed from MPG files captured by a
"FusionHDTV RT Gold 5" card.

My previous analysis was all wet. The 0x0b was the start of the AC3 audio sync word!

neroaac encoder only supports wav atm - and im testing it so decode to wav helps :) - i could use bepipe but i dont wanna get ahead of myself, learn one thing at a time :)

Carpo try something like this
create a file named audio.avs

LoadPlugin("your_plugin_path\NicAudio.dll")
NicAC3Source("your_audio_path\audio.ac3")
#for multichannel, NicAC3Source("your_audio_path\audio.ac3",2) for quick stereo setup
EnsureVBRMP3Sync()
ConvertAudioToFloat()

then create an audio.bat
bepipe.exe --script "import(^audio.avs^)" | neroaacenc.exe -q 0.3 -if - -of audio.mp4

launch audio.bat

thanks i'll give that a try on my next backup :)

backing up dvds was soooo much easier ;D

"import(^audio.avs^)" are the ^^ required or do they need to be removed ?

goes to show i should look the rest of the forum over as

Simple NeroAACEnc GUI - SNG v0.7.1 - will do most forms of audio to neroaac ;P (although it is faster if you use wav and use megui to do it - from my perspective anyway)

Yeah, I found that the new detection code to support Fusion is not quite ready for prime time. Back off to beta 9 for now. I'm working on making the Fusion support robust.

Guest
23rd May 2006, 00:53
Technical difficulties prevented me (at this time) from implementing reliable automatic detection of Fusion-style audio, so I implemented a GUI option to force it. It is described in the DGIndex User Manual. It would be better if it could be made automatic, so I will continue to try to find a reliable way, but for now this should at least allow Fusion owners to decode their MPG streams. (For geeks: One gotcha is that LPCM streams do not have a sync word and so it difficult to distinguish LPCM from a stream corruption that clobbers the audio substream number. That's why beta 11 could erroneously think it had PCM audio.)

* Added an option to force proper parsing of audio when the stream is not DVD-structured (i.e., when there is no audio substream number and associated DVD header). For example, AC3 audio could not be processed from MPG files captured by a FusionHDTV RT Gold 5 card.

hmmmz maybe a new encoding feature with the selection of divx, xvid, x264/avc and any other ones u decide to use...? that i think would top off ur program from the others... because you are able to create the d2v file and you can give them the option to encode their file aswell. or you could make an automated option to do it all at once. but these are just thoughts what does everyone else think should be added?

no problems reported yet Oh, goodie.

I found one, though. You can't process MPEG1 video in a transport stream. I have it fixed in my last build and it'll be in the 1.4.7 final.

Thank you for your feedback.

hi neuron2

looking at this clip (http://www.one.seemoredigital.net/Temp_Files/Pure_Interlaced_HDTV_MPEG-2_Source.zip) i noticed that dgdecode doesnt seem to automatically remove the bottom 8 pixels (making it 1920x1080 from x1088). both libmpeg2 and libavcodec do this

i guess with hdtv 1080i/p becoming more popular this thing might become more important too

thanks!

Guest

That's been discussed before but may be worth revisiting. I'll see what I can do about it.

Guest
27th May 2006, 16:58
At first I thought I could just detect a height of 1088 and then set the clipping GUI for 8 off the bottom. But it turns out it is more complex.

Instead of observing the vertical_size field in the sequence header, or the display_vertical_size field in the sequence display extension, DGIndex uses the coded picture height, i.e., 16 times the number of macroblocks vertically. Usually this is OK, because the intended display size is usually a multiple of 16. But 1080 is not a multiple of 16. Your test stream correctly specifies a display size of 1080, but DGIndex ignores it.

DGIndex should be revised to properly use the specified display size and not to use the coded picture height. I believe jackei made some changes in this area for his latest version of DVD2AVI, but I don't know if he addressed this specific issue. It's a major change and so I will defer it to the next version. The workaround for now is to use the GUI clipping or Crop() in your AVS script.

In the next version, as well as fixing this, I will clean up the clipping GUI.

Isochroma
27th May 2006, 17:43
Sounds like an excellent idea! Trouble for me, is that I made lots of .avs with crop() set for each of the transport streams to get rid of that bottom edge. With the new version, they will need to be revised. In the long run however, this change will save me significant quantities of labour. It is a welcome change :)

Is dgmpgdec 147 Final going to include the updated Skal's idct? I tested it and the gain was imperceptible. Convince me that the risk is worth taking. :)

It will include improved Luminance and Cropping dialogs, however; I have them working in my private build.

No convincing from me, either/or works just fine...the difference was minimal in the tests I did

32-bit SSEMMX (Skal Org) 99.68% 1:45
32-bit SSEMMX (Skal New) 99.78% 1:43
32-bit Simple MMX (XviD) 99.72% 1:46

Was just wondering if it was going to make it's way in.

i wonder, would it be possible to output stats to stdout or something similar? in -HIDE mode it's hard to tell what's going on... (though i'm really greatful for the hide mode, as it means i can use overlay at the same time as DGindexing a big pile of m2v's).

i'm thinking something that'd allow us to make a command line window show a progress percentage in the top, just for a little feedback. it's by no means vital.

thanks again for the updates :)

Today after finishing the indexing of a transport stream, I was somewhat surprised that the file when opened in vdub showed 1920x1088, rather than the coded picture height of 1080. This is using 1.4.7 final, which so far has delivered 1080 for all the .ts I've tested it on.

I can provide a sample but need a decent tool to cut .ts, any ideas?

Guest
8th June 2006, 19:19
Some streams actually do have a display size of 1088 specified. But I'll be happy to have a look. Just use DGIndex to demux a small part of the video and provide that. Set a range and then "Save Project and Demux Video".

If that is the case, we would need to consider whether we detect and handle that as a special case, or whether we should honor the specified display size and then crop in the script if needed.

Isochroma
8th June 2006, 22:03
As you suggested, here are the files:

1088.demuxed.m2v (http://isochroma.com/Testfiles/Misc/1088.demuxed.m2v) [2.6 MB]
1088.d2v (http://isochroma.com/Testfiles/Misc/1088.d2v)

Guest
8th June 2006, 22:27
Yes, it is as I thought. The stream specifies the encoded size *and* the display size as 1088.

I will add a special case (maybe optional) for this to force it to be treated as 1080.

Isochroma
9th June 2006, 01:48
Ah, just as I suspected! Thanks very much for checking this out so rapidly :) I can always use crop() in the script so it's no big deal...
