?????

The only time a notification gets sent is when a new version is released. The notification is sent to EVERY VIP MAILBOX on the same day it is released. If you are getting your notification's that late -- it's something you should address with your e-mail provider.

v1.08.1 was released, and a notification was mailed to every VIP, on February 21st.

If you send a request to DVD-RB@DVD-RB.COM I can send you the date, time, and message ID for every notification sent to your registered e-mail address for each of the versions you mentioned.

Thanks,
jdobbs

Just curious how you handled 1.08 or whichever one had they "key" problem ?? I never rec'd an e-mail for that one, not that I missed anything, of course ! :) I'd guess you have a small group who helps you before you make a full release and they discovered that problem.

I still haven't received it either... Well, just reiterate the magnificent work you're doing. :)

I just got another rejection notice from yours about an hour ago (from yesterday's mailing) -- I just sent it through a different server. This will be the third server.... the last one rejected was from the YAHOO small business servers. Just MHO, but you really should complain to your service provider. If I'm getting rejected there have to be others -- and they may not be as persistent.

By the way -- it's not just you, there are about 15 other e-mail addresses that use that same service provider and they all also had to be sent again.

I never rec'd an e-mail for that one, not that I missed anything, of course ! :) I'd guess you have a small group who helps you before you make a full release and they discovered that problem.I got two e-mails saying they had a problem within the first 30 minutes or so. One report can be a mistake -- but two is a trend. So I decided to suspend the mailing and lock out downloads until I found out what the issue was. I hate it when something like that happens. I tested it on multiple computers and multiple operating systems... but sometimes you don't know what will happen until it hits a wide audience. Luckily I caught it early in the mailing and most of the VIPs didn't even know the problem ever existed.

One incontrovertable fact: no matter how much or how long you test -- you will still miss something.

To the guys on Yahoo who are getting rejected:

If you're using the Yahoo premium service -- and have it routed to Outlook -- log in to your Yahoo Email via the Yahoo homepage. If your Rebuilder notifications are being handled like mine were, it's in the bulk Email folder somewhere. If you find it there, you can mark it as "not spam," and it will make it to your regular Inbox from that point onward. I wasn't seeing notifications when I first put my Yahoo account on Outlook, because for whatever reason, Outlook doesn't look in your bulk folder. Now that I've marked the messages as "not spam," I haven't missed one since.

Hopefully that solves things for at least *someone* else out there!

Excuse me jdobbs.

I want to say that I received notification of release 1.08.1 at 02/21/06 but it contains the body and the links of version 1.07.2

I sent you a e-mail with de headers of message to DVD-RB@DVD-RB.COM

Best regards.

I think that was the message saying

"Don't download v1.08 because it has registration problems -- you can still download v1.07.2 here."

It was sent to the folks who got notified before the problem was discovered.

Either way, you've gotten your v1.08.1 link, right? It was mailed to all VIPS on the 21st. If not, first check you SPAM folders (I reallly, really hate SPAM filters -- they all suck bigtime) -- and then send your address to dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com.

well, i had to donate twice (using two different e-mail addresses), 'cause no matter what i told my e-mail provider (and what they, in return, told me), i just didn't receive any notification mails when a new version of DVD RB was out. my only option was to donate again, using a new e-mail address.

it sounds shitty, but actually i'm glad i donated ttwice: DVD RB and jdobbs deserve it.

Too true. I can't keep up with his updates! :o

Based on the updates so far, I think v1.1 should also be able to make delicious, crunchy toast. Even if it doesn't, it would be a good time for a redonation, I think.

PS I like your double-T in ttwice. Very subtle. It was intentional... wasn't it? :p

...by the way... that can happen to people that are using GMAIL accounts too... gmail has a spam filter that MS Outlook, MS Office Outlook and Mozilla can't access.

Yes, I got on 02/20/06 21.33:

Dear DVD Rebuilder VIP,

Earlier today you may have received a notice of the newest
version of DVD Rebuilder. It appears that there may be an
issue in the registration process for some users. I have
therefore suspended downloads until I can identify exactly
what may be the source of that problem.

I appreciate your patience as I work this issue. If you
are experiencing this problem (a registration loop) please
notify me at dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com and reinstall v1.07.2:

I haven't received anything earlier and I haven't received the link to 1.08.1.

I haven't spam folders.

Until now all the mail messages they have arrived well.

I send you my e-mail address

Best regards

Any time anyone has an issue -- just e-mail dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com. I'll be honest though, almost every time I've investigated why a message wasn't delivered it's been an anti-SPAM issue. You may not see it, but sometimes your service provider is making decisions for you...

Most of the time I can even show a log of the SMTP conversation and the receipt ID that the service provider gave when the message was accepted for delivery. That doesn't leave a lot of room for doubt.

Also, anti-SPAM filtering is pretty much the only time a non-delivery report isn't sent back to the sender when the message isn't delivered. If I get a non-delivery report I will cycle through 4 separate mail providers (the big ones, too) before I finally decide the address is dead.

The point I'm trying to make is that I go to extreme measures to make sure every notification gets delivered... but there's not much I can do when your service provider decides (for you) to throw it away.

Most people just don't realize how badly anti-SPAM filters work. As I said earlier, they truly suck bigtime.

Until now I have received without problems all e-mails of dvd-rb.com.

dvd-rb.com. it's not in my list of spams .

If no longer I can receive it : bad news, I will resign myself to live without Dvd Rebuilder Pro.

Best regards.

Well... I just received failure notices on the attempt to send to telefonica.net customers again from a fourth and final mail server. I tried through the DVD-RB local server, COMCAST servers, YAHOO small business servers, and GO-DADDY/SecureServer mail services and they all were rejected. Does anyone know if this provider still exists? It affects about 15 people.

24th February 2006, 11:38
At least the site is dead so I would suspect that the email accounts ain't working either. Tracerouting won't get you anywhere as well. Still, many people seem to be using telefonica.net email accounts at least according to a search via Google Groups.

@alfixdvd
gmail accounts (google mail) do not block these messages.. i would be happy to send you an invite.

also.. when your isp/mail server blocks messages as spam.. you will never see them.. they wont be on any 'spam' list... well at least not any lists you have access to. You may have a spam filter on your email software but thats not the same thing.

jdobbs
25th February 2006, 03:52
Exactly.

I would never stay with a provider that filtered my messages. We used to call that totalitarianism. That's a choice I think should be left to me....

Well... I don't know about that... as you can see on GMAIL there's a spam folder... using the POP3 service you'll never get those filtered mails using your mail app... but you can access it through web mail service.

edit: byt the way... if someone needs some gmail "invitations" I'll be glad to offer some, too... at least 50 :D

hehe.. yeah i have an overload of invites myself.

i only use the webservice. (i honestly didnt even know you could pop to it) .. 99% of why i like gmail is because of the web interface..

jdobbs I sent you an e-mail to dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com, with an account of gmail where you can send me Dvd Rebuilder.

With telefonica.net I recieve e-mails from canon, sun, ibm, ulead, infojobs, etc without problems, I don't know why telefonica.net now don't like dvd-rb.com.

Best regards.

It's not just dvd-rb.com. I sent the message through servers from:

COMCAST
YAHOO
GO-DADDY

as well... it rejected all of them. The same e-mail was accepted by many, many other providers... so that pretty much makes it clear where the problem is.

[Additional comment] This was the only provider that rejected the mail.
