Hello,

Im searching for a new computer system to rip into xvid using virtualdub.
I can choose between a dualcore Intel Pentium 955 Extreme Edition Sockel-775 boxed, 2x 3.46GHz, 266MHz FSB, 2x 2048kB Cache or a single core p4 3.8 ghz.

What will be the smartest/fastest option to choose?
I dont know if virtualdub/xvid can get much out of the second core.

Ice.

Your dual core ain't FSB 266Mhz ;)

But for encoding, if your encoders tan use dual core, go for it, else stay single core.

If AMD had dual-core Turions I'd be all over that... I still can't afford more than one extreme machine so I prefer to put everything I can into the little laptop. Thus I ended up with a Yonah/Core Duo. (Low-end, I'll upgrade again summer.) It's an enormous improvement over my AXP and Pent. M. =D
