Why is that? Original directory is 6.03 gb. Output directory is 6.85 gb. Looking at the log, all 3 steps (prepare, encode, rebuild) were completed successfully. I'm completely new to this, so am I missing something obvious?

Did you check the content of the output directory? Maybe both your working and output DVD files were saved there. Check size only of "DVDFILES" directory.

Not much information provided, so it's hard to say what's causing it. Are you set for DVD-9 output? If so, that's the problem. If you're using CCE, have you set the correct option under settings for the version of CCE you are using? Do you have some extra files in your output directory? Is 6.85GB the size of the DVDFILES directory, or are you reporting the D2VAVS directory?

I'd suggest as a start you post the contents of your REBUILDER.INI file so we can see the configuration.

I'm sure I just missed clicking an option or something simple like that.

I'm using DVD-Rebuilder v0.96.

First, I can't find any rebuilder.ini files in the working directory, source or output directory. I only have rebuilder.log, rebuilder.inf, rebuilder.ecl.

Second, CCE Options are set to CCE SP. Paths to CCE SP 2.5 and CCE SP (new) point to EclCCE. Path to CCE Basic points to EclCCE.exe of the CCE 2.7 package. In the beginning, I had tried pointing to cctsp.exe and cctspt.exe, but .m2v couldn't be created.

Third, I'm new to this, so I'm not sure how to set for DVD-9 output. I try to follow the doom guide as carefully as possible; perhaps I missed a step. :(

Fourth, I only have the DVDFILES folder with audio_ts and video_ts in output directory. The 6.85GB size refers to this file.

Thank you for any input.

Ok.

1. REBUILDER.INI is in the executable directory along with REBUILDER.EXE.

2. It's very likely that your setting for CCE is incorrect -- the REBUILDER.INI will show that. CCE SP is very rarely the correct setting -- most commonly the correct setting would be "CCE SP Trial" (except for the $2000 commercial release). If you are using ECLCCE, you probably are using an older version of CCE -- I'm guessing v2.50. In that case you would need to select "CCE SP (v2.50)".

It's a bad idea to point all the CCE paths to the same place. They all behave differently ("Thanks, Cinemacraft"), and the parameters passed have different meanings. Doing so can make them "appear" to work when you've configured incorrectly -- but can cause just this kind of problem. The probable cause of the oversizing is that the CCE version being used is misinterpreting the encoding type (VBR/OPV/CBR) because the selection value in the ECL file is different for different versions.

3. If you use the full installer version of the freeware -- all this is pretty much done for you. You can get it here. (http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/DVD-RBv096Free.zip)

4. That's the correct place to look.

If you post your REBUILDER.INI, I will be able to tell you what settings are incorrect.

Thanks.

Hi,

I knew it was probably something simple.

Ok, here's the REBUILDER.INI file

QuEncHQ=1
EncoderMinimized=1
RemoveDTS=1

HC_Matrix=1
SkinVersion=3
CCE=1
QTrellis=1

2. The guide confused me with all the different CCE possibilities. Add to that, I was trying different solutions to the .m2v situation. But, I'm going to reread the guide and see if I can understand all the different options.

3. Yes, definitely used the full installer. It makes things a lot easier.

I appreciate your help!

What version of CCE are you using? The directory says 2.7 for "Basic", but the others point to ECLCCE -- is it the "Basic" version or "CCE SP"? Some facts:

1. If you are using CCE v2.70 -- you can't use ECLCCE. It doesn't work and isn't needed.

2. If you are using the trial version of SP (a file that is named CCTSPT.EXE) you have to check the selection in OPTIONS/CCE OPTIONS that says "CCE SP Trial".

3. The Trial version of the "Basic" can't be used with DVD-RB because of its encoding time limits.
