Anyone have any in-sight on whether this is the real deal or just another scam.

It looks like a scam to me.

From reading around at the original unofficially official DVDShrink forum (http://forum.digital-digest.com/forumdisplay.php?f=47&order=desc) I found a recent thread (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=62490) on this, but no concrete answers there yet.

The original host of dvdshrink.org shut down last fall after MacroVision went after a bunch of players. At that time it didn't have any forums, offical or otherwise, and was NOT run by DVDShrink (the author) but was given permission by him to be the offical site. DVDShrink was well known for not accepting donations for the program. Even though the new site makes it clear that the donations are for site expenses, it looks fishy to me.

Before donating, I would keep an eye on the thead linked above, or perhaps DVDShrink will respond here, he has an account under that name.

One has to question why:

1) The homepage is a virtual clone of the original DVD Shrink homepage - despite the fact that it is ONLY a forum.

2) There are no links to the excellent user guides that were at the original site

3) Why a forum-only site, which should rely on advertising for income, would be seeking donations
