Problem with MPEG2-TS video size

I have a strange problem with my TV USB2 recorder :

when i record a video with my TV software the image is fine but the size is incorrect.

What i mean is the real size of the video is 720x576 but all the softwares that i use for reading it or modify it recognize it for 544x576 :(

It's not annoying for playing the video because the image is still fine but when i demux it and modify it with virtualdubmod the software work only on 544x576 so the result is bad :/

So my question is : is it possible to set a new size to the video without transforming it ?

The video is originally recorded in MPEG2-TS (Transport Stream), i demux it with Project X to MPEG2-PS (Program Stream).

Here in the UK there are quite a few digital channels broadcast at 544x576 - they use that resolution so they can use a lower bitrate.

To modify it, and keep the correct aspect ratio, resize it in vdubmod to, say, 768x576 to give you an aspect ratio of 4:3.

But many DVD players will play video at the 544x576 resolution, and DVD Lab will author that resolution without requiring you to re-encode it.

I also have a USB device. It is a Freecom USB adapter available in the UK. It records the stream and I have noticed many channels are 544 x 576. TMPGEnc DVD author will not even recognise the video. It also causes lip sync errors.

I will have a look at DVD LAB. I never knew it worked with 544 x 576.

I've authored several TV programmes that were 544x576 and they play fine in my standalone Panasonic DVD player. An much older cyberhome has problems with the video which is pretty unwatchable.

Perhaps more recent players will have no problems playing 544x576, and it may be something to look for if you need to buy a new player at some point.

I'm happy to author 544x576 as this is an exact copy of the broadcast data, so I'm effectively archiving the highest quality copy.

And Yes, DVD Lab has no problems authoring 544x576.

I have used DVD LAB and is does work with 544 x 576 but I still got lip sync problems. I think it might be due to the strange GOP structures. I put the mpg through videoredo and it seemed to have stopped the lip sync. I need to do a proper whole recording. The recorded mpg file is always in sync.

I don't get any lip sync problems at all with DVD Lab. I just drag the video and audio files on to the video and audio track on the Movie window which allows
DVD Lab to multiplex the video and audio stream files as it creates the DVD.
