I used megui with sharktooth's rev408 and HQslower profile,soulhanter_v2 matrix.The bitrate is around 1200KB.
In the dark and foggy scenes, there are obvious blocks.when the fog flows,it seems like the blocks become "liquid" and flow.
In xvid ,I usually close B-frames when encountering this kind of scene.
What should I do with it in x264?
thx

Try --no-fast-pskip option and maybe stronger denoise.

Actually some people have even recommended adding noise to prevent this kind of blocking. Denoising might not help.

Denoising might not help. Thats right but i try to use Convolution3D("movieHQ") he help litle also removegrain(mode=2) and other modes up to 17 also repair ,clense and other noting helps much. I aslo use soulhanter_v2 but litle different or create rainbow effect. I have same problem

another thread has been opened about this recently, and this problem always occurs in low-contrast areas (e.g: dark areas, fog, and flat areas (but blockiness isn't visible there since the areas are precisely "flat"))
