Yo!
Is there any way to 'silence' Nvidia GPUs by software ? Like making their fans run in a less noisy way ?
I just purchased a brand new Nvidia Geforce 6600 (APG 8x version), I am really satisfied with its performance, but the sound 'pollution' from the fan is a little too much to bear, especially coupled with my (already) noisy system.
I know there are silent fans available to purchase separately, and silencers as well. However, I'd prefer to use a software that can reduce noise/fan speed, even a little.
Anyone knowing about some soft that can do that, please share your wealth.

The following link will provide you with test information regarding many different models of the 6600 board. It may not provide you with a solution, but it may provide you with insight as to whether your particular board's fan is noisier than the tested versions...

Excuse me, but the link seems to be missing. Care to resend it?
Oh, and btw, what I was looking for was *not really* benchmarks or tests. I already have some docs avail on the subject. It's just that the combination of my current home system+6600 fan makes me *crazy*. I tested 6600 on a different system and the fan noise is the same (I didnt count decibels tough).
Is reducing the fan speed possible *at all*?
(unlike what it might look like, your willingness to help is still appreciated)

Did you try your card in another system, or did you listen to another identical 6600 in another system? If it is only your card you have experimented with, it is possible, although probably not very likely, that the housing surrounding the fan is deformed, causing a hideous noise, or perhaps the small motor is defective in some way; damaged or malformed bearings etc.

@omegasaid
Sorry about that ;>}

What I'm suggesting is that this link might help you determine if your newly purchased card's fan SHOULD be expected to be that loud, or if yours might be defective...
